Pooping in her Bed! OK. Three nights in a row Lexi has pooped in her bed and then layed on top of it. She really smells when I get her. She is not in a crate, so she has no need to poop in her bed. She is in an xpen with pee pads on the side of her bed. She is almost six months old and she has never done this before. Why would she suddenly decide to do this? She is also a poop eater so at first I thought she was taking it in her bed to eat it and then didn't but after three nights of this, I don't think this is what she is doing. Help

Try adding ACCENT theflavor enhancer to her food. It is not a tenderizer-it makes good things taste better. Well, except for dog poop. They will not eat the poop from food that has been treated. And, I know people will say a dog will not sleep in their own poop-those people NEVER had Yorkies..I have no answer for how to stop her doing her duty in her bed. maybe she heard Bill Cosby's monologue about if you stick your toe out of the bed a snake will bite it..

I have no idea why she would be doing this. I hope you can get her to stop. Good Luck.

Thanks, I will try the accent. We think it is the pup peroni sticks that we give her for treats for pottying where she is supposed to. I know they smell really good going in. Maybe she is trying to get "more" this way? Should I try to use accent on the pupperoni? Is that possible? Or should treating her other food be good enough? I guess I will have to expieriment with it. She did not sleep on it the last two nights so maybe she has stopped. I certainly hope so!

| I hope your problem was a temporary one! I have also found that the theory about dogs not wanting to poop or pee near their "den" to be false...at least for my babies!! Good Luck!

I have read poop eating behavior may be learned. If Mom got the chance to eat the poop (to clean up the bed) and the pups witness that they think that is what they are supposed to do. (ick) A breeder that cleans up after pups quickly will lesson the chances of this problem. Not an easy thing to accomplish as much as puppies poop huh? It probably has something to do with how yummy the poop smells and tastes too. (double ick) I think I would take her bed away and replace it with towels or small blankets that are easy to wash daily. Make sure she is eating stuff that only tastes good going in, not coming out. If she has always been a poop eater then she is probably taking it back to bed because she sees it as burying her treat. Lovely. Did I say ick? Can you get her to potty on command? Shelby poops and pees before bedtime but since she sleeps with me pooping in the bed is not acceptable good luck, this is a tough problem.

I really dont have any new advise but i hope lexy pooping on her bed was just temporary.I had a thought, make sure the hair on her butt is trim short cause sometimes the poop will stick to it and they will drag it everywhere. Good luck.
