| ![]() At what age do puppies seem to recognize potty training efforts. I have been putting Chachi on the paper whenever I catch him in the act. He has used the paper a couple of times, but most often walks off and does his business on the carpet. EEK!

| ![]() I think 4 to 6 months is young enough to start, though don't expect results overnight. It takes a lot of time and patience for them to learn it. We usually just let him out every 30 minutes or an hour, to see if Yoda would pee. I think pee training came first, then he learned to poop outside. |

| ![]() Hello, I'm new to Yorkie Talk. I put my little 13 week old female (CoCo) on the Second Nature dog litter system the moment I brought her home when she was 8 weeks old. She has been very reliable considering her age. I have been keeping track on her "accidents" and right now it's about one accident every other day. I've spent a lot of time making sure my potty training efforts were consistant. I think I got lucky with CoCo, she picked it up rather quickly. My Dachshund is about a year old now and is no where as consistant as CoCo. Be patient and don't give up! Stay consistant and make sure you learn when Chachi has to go potty. I learned CoCo usually goes after she wakes up from a nap and after she eats so I used that to my advantage by putting her in the litterbox during those times. Here's a video I took of CoCo going to the litter box after waking up in the morning. In this video she's 10 weeks old. I feel weird showing a video of her going potty but I figure it will keep you motivated potty training Chachi. http://nyip.net/~iarciaga/coco-litterbox.wmv |

| ![]() I can say Amber was completly housebroken about 6 - 6 1/2 months old (she goes outside to go potty). There were times that it seemed like it would never happen and there was no light at the end of the tunnel. But I look back at it now and it was not that bad. It was all worth it! |

| ![]() My computer would not allow me to pick up your video. My computer is getting on my last nerve right now!!! Anyway, thanks for writing because I have the litter box and litter. I just have not tried to use it because the breeder used papers so I wanted to start the same. I'm gonna fill up the box and start using it. I think you have been lucky with your pup!! Chachi seemed to recognize at first that he needed to go on the paper but now wants to go on the carpet. I am afraid he has had so many accidents on the carpet that he thinks thats where he is to go. I am going to have to be better about getting him to the litter box before he tries to go. He often thinks that I am playing with him when I take him though. I quess its just gonna take time and patience!!!

| ![]() Good job, CoCo!!! The video looks like she is well on her way to being "accident" free before you know it! Her demeanor looked like Toto's when she is headed for her wee wee pad ... on a mission! ![]()

| ![]() IsaaX: welcome to our board! That's a cool video, you sound just like me when Yoda was a baby and we took him to pee in the mornings. Of course, we still say, "Good boy, Yoda, good boy!" when he does his duty. Thanks for sharing the video! |

| ![]() It seems as if Bella did better with the potty training the first week we got her. Why is she peeing in her pen at night? I wake up and let her out in the night at the first whimper. She had wet in pen twice last night when I went to get her at the first sound. Now she has peed on the carpet or pooped right after letting her outside to go. We watched her pee outside then she came in and went in a matter of minutes. It is just a small amount but I can't figure out the reason for the accidents. Any ideas? Also if my picture is too large a file how do I attach it? |

| ![]() You are so lucky to have Coco trained! Frankie was doing well at first... now he seems to want to pee on our bathroom carpets, or the mats in the kitchen! |
