| Rain is undoing our potty training! Dante is 6 months old, 5 pounds, and we've had him three months. We'd made great progress on potty training, including him going out the doggy door when he needs to go. But it's been dry here - until 2 days ago. And for the past 2 days, we've had almost nonstop rain. We've had more accidents in the house in the past 2 days than we'd had in the past 4 weeks! I take him out... and he won't go. He doesn't like the wet grass. A couple of times when I'm persistent (put him out in the middle of the grass 3-4 times), he'll give up and go. Other times, he stays more stubborn, keeps going to the door (or in thru the doggy door), and pees or poops inside. I had pea gravel put down, but that doesn't seem to help with this. I have tried taking a pee pad out, but he ignores that, too. I have two other dogs, so I don't want to train him to indoor pottying. Any one have any ideas on how to get past this? |

| I wish I had an answer for you. We're having the same problem. It's really frustrating. |

| I would put pee pads down for him or litter box train him for when the weather is bad. |

| For those who have attached garages: I dual-train my yorkies. Goes outside except during inclement weather. I train to use piddle pads in the garage in bad weather. It has worked out great through three little one's.

| the same thing is happening with my 4month old beemer. it has been raining here for the last week non-stop and beemer will not step on the grass to go potty. he will poop and pee on the porch when i take him out in the middle of the night and at 6am, BUT any other time he will not go outside to potty so he has been using the pads. the problem is that it has just stopped raining FINALLY and now we are trying to get him to go outside again all the time and he won't. we will stand outside trying to get him to go for 20 min and the min we walk in the house he pees on the pad (which is good but i dont want it to become a habit) Any advice would be great. |

| I'd be worried, too, with the snow you guys sometimes get! If you have a yard, get a snow shovel. I have to shovel space in my yard, because mine just loves to go out whenever possible. Perhaps you could invest in a tent!

| To be honest. That is why I like the peepads. You never have to worry about the weather or getting up late to let them out or having to get home to let them out. Convenience. And I once read that yorkies think like this "Well, if you go potty outside then I will" - LOL!
