| I'm going to my daughters new home and have a similar situation so I bought a soft side playpen that pops open to about 5 x 5 feet for pup that has a plastic bottom. It is light so I'm going to take it room to room with me. It will fit a pee pad a bed and her food plus room for her to play I got it on Ebay. |

| I wouldn't crate for 8 hours. I just recently traveled also and I didn't trust anyone, not even my brother to watch her because he has to work 9 hrs a day and that meant she would have been in her crate for that long and she is teething right now so she is likely to chew something in the apt if she gets bored so I took her with me. Maybe you could stay at a pet-friendly hotel if your parents can understand that you don't feel comfortable crating your dog. We stayed at a hotel and she did awesome. She is peepad trained so there were no accidents to worry about and she wasn't stuck in her crate all day. When we had to leave for anything we would crate her but when we got back she was let out for as long as she liked until it was time for bed. She also, is a spoiled little puppy and we love her a lot so that's why we took her with us because we knew she would get the proper care that she needed. |

Otherwise, you can just line the floor in a wire one with pee pads.
