Do you sleep with your yorkie?? Well.. I was curious if anybody sleeps with their yorkie because when I first got Bella, I didnt. I was scared of moving and smothering her or something.. so i prefered to put her in a her bed and stay safe there. Then one day, my hubby was gone for work and i decided to sleep with her and have some company.. Everything seemed fine for the first nights but then she started peeing in my bed!!! She uses pee pads and sometimes, she thingks the bed, couches, carpet or anything with fabric is equal to pee pads.. soo since then i had to put her back to her bed and sleep alone. :( Does someone has had this problem too???? |
Uni has slept in my bed since day one. I kept a bell on her collar so as soon as i heard her rustle around, I got up and tried to get her to potty. Needless to say, it was a sleepless few weeks, but I was so adamant about her potty training, she was about 75% at around 4-5 months. Now, if she is not within reach, I still wake up and look for her. Her snores wake me up, then make me fall back asleep. So cute. |
Yes, one of mine peed on my comforter a couple of times in the begining, but I said "NO" picked her up and put her on her pee pad. My two wouldn't know what to do if they didn't sleep with me....lol |

Kaji started sleeping in his expen. Then the bed came out of the expen and I put it right next to my bed so I could reach down and pet him. Eventually, he won and we sleep together. I love cuddling with him at night! I will say that I have just been incredibly lucky with him when it comes to pottying. He's not perfect, especially when he's under the weather, but he holds it all night. When we use to have the luxury to have him outside potty trained, he would walk up to my face and nibble my bangs. That was his way of telling me he needed to go potty. Now that he's pad trained, he walks himself to the pad if he needs to go at night. He does wear a bell so I can hear him rustle around, but to be frank, he doesn't need it anymore. I do think it takes time when you change something to their schedule/routine. Just make sure to clean up any accidents really well. |

Oh wow!!! Well your dogs are really well trained! I think bella is just lazy to go or she prefers the matress i dont know! She prefers to go on the carpet than her pee pads! So thats why i have to keep her where there is no carpet and hardwood floor. With hardwood floor, she is perfect! but once we let her be in carpet or a bed or something with fabric.. then she stops using her pee ppads and prefers the carpet. I dont know how to break her from that habit! |
Ours sleep with us now. When they were babies they were crated or in an xpen. Once they were able to hold it through the night we put them into bed with us. I would try an xpen and put her in it at night before bed with a bed and a pad. Two of mine go outside and I used a crate in thier training and my little guy used the xpen and uses pads, they are all very well trained and have not peed in my bed.:thumbup:I have used bells before but there was no way once I got into bed that I would be going outside, but that is awesome too! If you are wanting her to be pad trained I would do a xpen with a bed and a pad, they dont want to sleep in their pee and at night make sure its a fresh pad then you know how often she is going through the night. Good luck! |
Mine sleep with me. A few accidents at first but quickly got the hint that peeing in my bed was not acceptable. Even when I workk night shift, they come to bed with me during the day and will sleep from about 8am until the afternoon before they wake me , barking and running around the bed tells me they can't wait any longer.:animal-pa |

The best thing I can say is get up with her if you decide to do it again and take her to the pad (if you're using inside pads) - My oldest Chanel trained in less than 2 weeks - my youngest (Cheri) took 11 months  I had pee pads in the house plus a yard back then so I had 2 options for them and all in all it went well - plus I had TILE in the house so cleanup was easy not too easy now that I had to move and have carpet - storms freak Cheri out and she's suddenly taken to not wanting to use the pads or the little outdoor patio I have set up for them - |

My girls race me to the bed at night - when they know it's 'that time' I swear the start staring me down and the second I get up .....both run thru my bedroom - out to the patio - pee - then into the bedroom - up the ramp and get into their prefered positions in bed. That's an every night ritual and has been for years now |
Yup! All 3 of them do! As puppies though, I crated them until they could hold it all night with no problems. |
I am bringing home my (almost) 15 week Maltese/Yorkie mix tomorrow and I was wondering the same thing. I work three nights a week so I think I will have no choice but to put her in her crate or a pen area for night time so my husband doesn't have to worry with her. Do you think that over time she could adjust to being in the bed when I am home and in the pen when I work? |
Yep! Which one? LOL All 4 sleep with us. :) They are a little over a year old and they stayed in their crates until a couple of months ago. The first week one of them (who knows who) pee'd in the bed about 3 in the morning. But, it hasn't happened since. |

I intended to crate because she was so tiny @ 12 weeks ... but I caved and shes slept with me ever since. Kasha is almost 6 months and hasn't made an oopsie on the bed during the night ( although she has made 2 after coming home from the vet) I think like most other yorkies that she thinks it's HER bed and thats why she wont pee during the night. |
I sleep with both of mine. Neither of them have pee'd on the bed. They have pee'd on the floor around the bed. I have steps for them to get on the bed and a doggie door so now they go out on their own. I don't think they would sleep anywhere else but in bed with me. |
Max slept in his xpen next to my until he was a year old. He felt safe in his pen and insisted on having the gate shut. When he turned a year old, he decided to sleep in my bed. He is pad trained and jumps off the bed in the morning to go to his pad if he can't wait for me. If he needs to poop, he grunts to wake me up. What kind of piddle pads do you use? Whether they are disposable or washable, they should be scented to attract the dog and to help them discern the difference between piddle pads and regular materials/household items. The washable piddle pads should be sprayed with a scent -- available at pet stores. |

Both of my dogs sleep with me. Pixie didn't until she was around 6 months and it was like she realized Daisy got to sleep with us so she started whining in the crate next to me and I just gave in:) |

Do you watch her and correct her when she goes inside on carpets or anything fabric? |
Remy sleeps with us. Did not at first (we got him at 6 months) but did shortly thereafter. Never had an accident in bed. He jumps on my chest or Jack's in the morning and taps my face with his paws to wake us up. Sometimes cute, sometimes not so cute  And he definitely snores! He is also a spooner. If I am sleeping on my side, he will curl up against my back. We are out for our potty walk between 6am - 7am everyday. He is very, very good at holding it and has been since he was little. I think we got lucky;) |

I let Hannah sleep with my sometimes, seems to be more and more lately. She has never peed on my bed, if she has to go she will jump off it and go on her potty pad but usually she waits until i wake up to take her out. |
haha oh yea...the furbabies sleep in the bed with us and umm lets say they have first say on where they want to sleep! LOL!! If we try to move them they look at us like "yea right" and beat us back to the spot! LOL!! |
Jackson has been sleeping in my bed since around 16-17 weeks old. He started in a crate but I always had to place the crate on my bed anyways, LOL. The 1st time he slept thru the night was when I allowed him to sleep on the bed so ever since... that's where he's been! I wouldn't have it any other way. |
does any one else have a probelm with their partner and their puppy. my husband is a big guy (6'0 245) he always fears he will squish the baby in the bed or get him trapped in the covers. i personally dont have a problem with bailey sleeping with us but he is just worried about hurting him. most nights bailey cuddles behind my knees or between my legs but some nights he cuddles behind zacks legs. do you think putting a bell on him would work like someone mentioned above or should we put him on the floor until hes bigger? |

:confused:Well I would never sleep with my Baby's.They both sleep in our bedroom in there own little dens. There very comfy and never complain.Iknow of a familey member that slept with there baby for years then one night he fell out of bed and has suffered damage to his back legs.It was nerve damage,he can not stand on his hind legs now.How bad things can happen in a seconds.not worth risking the pain for your baby or you.Let your baby sleep where you know it will be safe. . |

the only thing about bailey not sleeping in our bed is he will cry. ALOT and its gets louder the more we ignore him. i try to ignore his wimpering but he wont stop until he gets picked up. he wont even sleep on the bed we got him. as soon as hes on the bed he passes right out. should i continue to ignore his cries? im considering getting him a crate in 1-2 days. |
