| Am I confusing her? I am trying to potty train my 3 month old morkie. I just got her 2 weeks ago and at first I potty pad trained her in the bathroom. I would also take her outside and taught her a "pee pee" command. She will pee on the command outside, but not in. She is crate trained and has never had an accident in there. I have a 1.5 year old Lab that wasn't too thrilled when I brought her home so I kept them separated at first, but he is getting used to her. Because of that, when he is in the house, I keep her in an x-pen. I put him out during the day so she can stretch her legs. I keep pads in her pen and one in the kitchen so when she is out she can go on that one. When she is outside the pen, she won't pee on the pad or poop on it. Do I have her peeing in too many different places? I think I'm confused!

| When you say she doesn't pee on the pad, does she still pee elsewhere inside the xpen? Crate training teaches them to hold their pee until you take them to where you want them to go. If you put her in the x-pen I would still take her out every 3 hrs since she's getting the idea of peeing outside. I know with my puppy, I got her when she was 6 wks old and potty training has been crazy. I had a bed in there and she had been soiling it but it didn't bother her in the least bit so it wasn't getting me anywhere so I took the bed out and she is starting to hold it since she doesn't like standing in her own pee. She is pad training since I can't take her outside for another 2 months until she gets her shots. Are trying to dual train her? Do you want her to learn to potty on a pad when she is inside and you can't take her but also want her to potty outside too when you can take her? I know someone who has a chihuahua that learned to potty inside the bathtub when he couldn't get outside soon enough but that was because he was kept in the bathroom as part of the training process and he didn't want to soil near his food since the food was kept in the same vicinity as where he was being confined. |

| Yeah, I guess I am trying to dual train her. I take her out and use the command "break" and she does her business. I take her out every two hours. When she is in her pen, she pees on her pad. It's when I have her out of the pen that she pees wherever. I can take her outside and she'll pee 2-3 times. Then she'll come in and play and pee on the rug. I have a pee pad in the kitchen for her and she doesn't use it. I put her on it and say "break" and she refuses. She walks off and pees. I'm getting so frustrated. My Lab only took two weeks to train and he was using the doggy door. This little gal is gonna be my challenge! I love her though and I will endure! LOL!

| They really are little challenges!! My puppy is a little bugger 95% of the time lol but she really is the greatest and I love her too! I guess since she is only 12 weeks, you really are going to just have to restrict her to the xpen and the crate until you feel your comfortable with her having more free reign around the house. If she is out your are going to have to be extra vigilant so that you have the opportunity to correct her when you catch her in the act. Good luck and you can do it!! |
