My little 8 week old puppy is biting on EVERYTHING. My shoes, cords, toes, fingers face, legs....EVERYTHING. I say "NO BITE" and he looks at me and stops and then starts right back up again. If I sat there and yelled "NO BITE" everytime he bite something I would be constantly yelling at him. Any suggestions?

Water spray-bottle and/or pop can with a few pennies to shake.

Make sure he has lots of chewy toys or treats. If he is chewing on something he's not supposed to, distract him by giving him one of his chewies.

he wasnt with his mother and littermates during the critical period when he would have learned bite inhibition from them, so you now need to teach it, the key here will be consistency.

Every single time he puts his teeth on you whether you think he is playing or not, you need to give him something he can chew on (like a toy), if he insists you need to remove all your attention from him (get up and walk away).

Use the same tactic when he is chewing on things he shouldnt.

There is no need to yell at him, you can say "OUCH" loudly but the most important thing is giving him something else to chew on and making sure he doesnt get attention for chewing on you, because really at this age all he wants is your attention, good or bad.

I found getting up and walking into the other room works well. They will take any kind of attention they can get - positive or negative - so walking away from them means you're not paying them attention. They hate that! I know this works when pennies and squirt bottles don't. Olive has this same issue and it works for us. Good luck!

Dj is exploring the world through his mouth. Babies use their hands and mouth, puppies just have their mouth to explore with.

Next time he bites you, yelp in a high pitched voice and walk away. This is mimicking the behaviour his siblings would do and he'll learn that he won't get attention if he bites. You could also teach him to have a soft mouth, so this means he's allowed to gently mouth your hand, but the second he gets rough you yelp and move away.

Every time he is biting something he shouldn't, put a chew toy in his mouth instead. This gets tiresome to do consistently, but he'll catch on. Yorkies are smart little pups

My pup is just under five months, and I still have some things stored out of her reach. I'm slowly moving things back down, but we take it day by day. (I just turned around while typing this and noticed Indy chewing a blanket hanging down from my bed. *sigh*)

If you said No Crying to a baby would they understand you? Of course not
so you can say no bite until the sun turns blue and he will still will not
understand you. You have to show him. When he is biting your shoe, toes
etc tell him no bite and put his own toy in his mouth. You may have to do
this many times until he understands it's ok to chew his toy but not yours.
He is very young but it's never to early to start training. He needs to know
what's his and what's not. Make sure he has several good chewing toys,
bones available to him because at this age they chew like termites.

He understands when I say "NO BITE" but then he stops and understands but then starts right back up to me. Hes not a dumb dog he is very smart.

The reason he starts right up again is because he doesnt understand you. He hears you yell which distracts him for a moment, but then he goes back to what he was doing. Thats why its better to distract him with something that he can bite on.

exactly!

He may be very smart, but he is still a dog... he doesnt understand English... you need to teach him on his terms.

Give him lots of chew toys and please keep all electrical cords out of his reach! Yelping really loud when he bites you is also good advice others gave you. Welcome to puppyhood! He is teething and biting feels good. Have patience with DJ and I promise this passes.

It can go on for years. Your pup is a baby and baby's do not understand.
They have to be taught, no matter how smart they seem to you.

As Cesar says, "I train people, I rehabilitate dogs." You need to train yourself first. Then train your dog.
