| How do I stop guarding of bully sticks? Toby and Maisie get on great most of the time. Except where chews are involved, bully sticks for example. Maisie loves to chew anything and everything, and Toby loves his bully sticks once they have softened a bit. Problem is, he hates Maisie having a chew. He will guard it whenever she is about, sometimes she wont even dare come into the room, he can get aggressive and attack her. It doesnt matter if they both have one, he wants hers or just doesnt want her to have it. I can take his chew off him no problem, he doesnt show any aggression to me, and its what I usually have to do to restore the peace, but then it means none of them can have a chew, and I really want to get a Himalayan Chew

| My girls forced me to stop buying bully sticks They just would NOT stop fighting over them. Izzy is twice the size of Luna and she would continually steal hers and they would growl and snap something awful So no more long-lasting chews in my house. They only get stuff that can be pretty much consumed right away. Hopefully some wise YT'er will have some advice for us soon I'd like to be able for them to have their chews again.

| I just let my two work it out, and don't get involved...And they can get rowdy, at times....However, if you think one is in danger, or never gets to chew, then I'd gate them in separate areas for an hr. or two each day, so they both get to chew...Would probably be the most peaceful hour of your day lolol... |

| Anything that makes a dog guard it should be taken away. Being aggressive towards you can escalate. I have been threw this with Buddy. I have taken away so many things over the years and brought them back gradually sitting on the floor holding it and petting him at the sametime. Then removing it after a while only to do this again another day. Most things are fine today however anything soft like a stuffed toy especially with a sqeeker will never be brought back because he guards it like a mother over a baby. It's not worth the risk of being bitten and it's not fair to your other dog to be attacked so I would remove the bully sticks and try something else they both enjoy without the worry. |

| That happens here alot. They go back and forth constantly. Maggie is a little instigator though, she will run after the one she doesn't have, doesn't matter if Hot Rod has it or not. When Hot Rod gets the upper hand she will just literally lay there whining and watching him chew. And the brat that he can be, he will just chew away in front of her! I can't stand it and I grab one and toss it across the room and tell Hot Rod to leave it. he will then ignore it and go back to chewing. If he start to go after it, I will just grab him and put him on my lap pillow to chew and he settles down. Sometimes, Maggie will go over there and chew on it and sometimes she will still sit/lay and whine and watch Hot Rod. At that point I just let them deal with it. It's up to Maggie to get the other one and if she chooses to whine, I can't do much more. Hope this helps. Good luck.

| Boy, do I know about this. Widget is a BEAR when it comes to chews. He will take everyones away. He can get 4 of them in his mouth and what's really funny is they all let him.. I really have to watch them when I hand these out and they all just love them. Wyatt will cry and cry after widget has gathered them all up but he will not take any away from Widget. Widget lays with one under each leg one in his mouth and one within reaching. They do not get these very often even though they all love them. |
