| Is there a best time of day to train? Just curious if there is a best time of day to train a dog to sit, stay, etc? After eating? Before eating? After a walk? Midday? I think you get the idea. Thanks |

| I don't think there is a time of day that is best in particular, but I wouldn't train while your dog is hyper or playful. I'd do it while he/she is more calm and focused and only do it for short time spans so you don't over do it. When training if you can see your dog becoming too bored or unfocused, it might be good to give it a rest for a little bit, but only end on a good note and don't forget lots of treats for him doing what you want!

| ^^ Agree. I also want to add that training a hungry dog is sometimes better, because if they're already full, they may not be as treat motivated.

And also, the training school we took Chip too told us that he doesn't need the entire treat to get the point across - you can give him just a little piece of it. This is good because he won't get full as fast and you don't run out of treats as fast Just don't forget, he's got a little tummy and giving him just a tiny piece of the treat is all it takes to get the point across. My dogs have always liked the moist treats for some reason and they are easier to break into smaller pieces.

I usually give Jackson the Zuke treats. They're so tiny but I still will sometimes break them in half during trick training.

| Those are a favorite in our house too. I didn't know of them though when we were doing our puppy training. We used Nature's Recipe Training Treats usually back then. They're small too like Zukes.

Work on one trick at a time. When they have got it about 75% of the time, move on to the next one. But do the whole routine and do them in order they learned it. After they got it 100% of the time, then mix up the routine. Oh I will try to stick the vid in here.
