Next to me up the stairs down the stairs im sitting here at the desk shes here.. in the kitchen she follows me everywhere!!!!!!! peanut goes no where cuz shes still afriad of getting attacked and its not fair that she still has this fear and i dont want precious to think its ok she runs the house while peanut stays in one spot!! idk how to get her to stop any ideas ?!? is this normal ?? thx ..... |
Hi I had a yorkie many many years ago that followed me for ten years. I could not break her of it. and it drove me nuts. I hope somebody on here as some ideas for you. Seems like your little girl is always feeling insecure and stressed cause she feels she needs to make sure you are not with the other one maybe. What a life for her and you.:( And your other little one is not having fun either. I have no answers but just want to let you know you are not alone.I am sure somebody on here has similar issues and can offer a solution. |
kayden follows me everywhere, too. she's sitting beside me as i type. if i'm doing dishes or standing at the stove, she either stands between my feet, or lays across them. she sits outside the shower when i'm in there, too. she shouldn't feel insecure...we don't have any other animals. it's just my daughter and me...and my daughter ('almost 18' as she says) is hardly ever here. so kay gets my attention all the time. it doesn't really bother me. but i do wonder why she's like this. |
This is what Yorkies do...they are companion animals and will move with you from room to room...for the most part...heck at my house I have a string of 6 that follow me everywhere and Moose (4#'s) controls everyone. |
Sydney is at my feet chewing on the table leg as I type. |
It's part of their nature. Yorkies are very attached to their humans, I don't believe it means she is insecure. I have a little 4 part choo-choo train here every time I get up or walk from room to room..... or go to the bathroom..... or to the kitchen.... or to bed.... or outside.... or to do laundry.... you get the idea :) ;) :D |

My two follow me everywhere. They would follow me to work if they could. They follow me to the door when I am leaving to go to work. I don't mind, at least I know where they are. Buster's favorite place is sitting on my lap. Maggie likes to sit there some, I don't know if she is more independent or if it's because Buster is always there. Even if Buster is sitting in my lap, Maggie is close by. But both of them follow me everywhere. I know where they are and if I see one and don't see the other, I start stalking the one that is not with me. Fair play! :D |
Jackson does not follow me everywhere and I am glad. It kind of got to me when my other yorkie did this. She even had to be in the bathroom with me. |
Misty, my Yorkie, doesn't follow me everywhere but she knows where I am all the time. My problem child is a 6 month old Maltese, Cassie. She stalks me. Everywhere I go, and no I don't dare close a bathroom door. Even when I take a shower, she is sitting right outside the door whining. Do they ever grow out of it? |

little shadows I also have a shadow in my little Belle. She will sit and watch me if I am in the same room, but heaven forbid if I go into another room, and no, you can not shut the bathroom door. I swear she would chew her way through it:eek: I will admit that if she's not following me, I know she's up to something. She's taken a great interest in my husband's sport catalogs lately, she slowly eating her way through them. I told my DH she is recycling the paper:D |
I would.... It sounds like a dominance thing. I would feed Peanut first, Pet Peanut first, treat Peanut first. If your other girl lights into Peanut explain that is not ok with a load "no" and the Ignore her for several minutes. I have a 2yo GSD and a 13week old Yorkie. They are both well rounded and they both follow me sometime: IE when I go to kitchen because behind that big white metal door is treats of such great flavor and only mommy serves them! Also if not, you may want to fix the girls. Good Luck! |
Buddy follows me everywhere when I'm home. I will admit and say it does drive me bonker's sometimes because he's alway's there. If I turn fast for some reason I trip over him because he stops when I do and he's not small, he's 16lbs. I was so stressed yesterday, due to some medical testing, I just wanted to go home and take a hot bath. I did but guess who stoop hunched over the tub staring at me?:( There's no privacy when you are the owner of a Yorkie. Sorry your other little one get's picked on. That would really make me crazy. Poor baby. Hope you can figure out a way so she can enjoy life also. |
my 2 follow me everywhere I go. It is so funny, when I walk down the hall, Hot Rod will tear towards the office before me as he thinks I'm headed that way. lol |

Okay .... you may want to read this because I had to go through the same scenario with my two guys I have two brothers ... Zach and Mike whenever you have two dogs there is going to be an alpha and a beta Always .... if you buck that system you're going to have fights It sounds like one is def the alpha so when you feed them the alpha gets fed first the alpha gets collared to go out first BUT you need to make sure the beta of the two doesn't get pushed aside always pet the second too always praise the second too it's just an order thing My Zach is the type of dog that sucks all the air out of the room and my Mike is like the tag along little brother I do have to monitor their play ... and make sure Mike gets to grab a ball or have a squeaky toy his brother takes everything away from him |

i can totally relate to the bath thing. kayden likes to 'eat' my bubbles. i always put a bit extra in the tub so she can. she puts her front paws over the top of the tub and bites at them the whole time i'm in the tub. it entertains her, though, so i don't mind. |
I don't have any children so Keno is like my child and, it is true I cannot close the bathroom door without him crying right outside, its funny because when i was a child i used to do the same thing with my mother, my mother used to say, "I couldn't even get piece and quiet in the bathroom because you were knocking on the door." I guess animals are almost liked humans. |

smokey has definitely become my tiny black shadow. i'm getting used to watching out for him under my feet wherever i am. i shut the door to my room at night, and to the bathroom, and there's a baby gate at the kitchen, but whenever i come back out of any of these rooms, he's right there waiting. such a lovie. my only problem right now, is that my living room chair isn't big enough, my toddler wants to sit on one arm of my chair, and smokey claims the other, LOL. i get pretty squished. |
Once you find how you can make her not to stalk you please write it here or send me a message. I had made a similar thread sometime ago and my yorkie still stalks me. And he is 2 years old now!! I can't leave the house before he starts howling and barking. And as soon as i'm out of the door to go to school it's so difficult to leave when i hear him. He sounds like he is in pain.. like he thinks i abandoned him :( |
Boo-Boo follows me everywhere...that's how he got his name (the little bear that followed Yogi around)! As I type this he is curled up in the crook of my arm and my lab is sitting next to the chair! I don't think he follows me because he's anxious, he just loves me, as most yorkies love their owners! Most of the time he's watching to make sure I"m okay. If I so much as sneeze he is jumping on me and sniffing my face! Yorkies love the people who love them, that's what makes them such great companions! |

Have any of you ever sneezed and then your yorkie would come up and start licking you all over? I think it's cute but sometimes it's too much. What does it mean when they do this? Someone told me they want to care and heal me or something... |
As i'm typing here, they are in my lap. They are adorable! What I find funny is that. My older yorkie Carmel), I got him for 3 months so he is used to my boyfriend and me. My boyfriend got Carmel as a gift for me and so we can both take care of a baby together. Carmel gets EXCITED whenever he hears the car lock sound that is similar to my boyfriend's because he thinks it's him!! He is truly a baby of ours |
