Does anyone have any input on how to stop a yorkie from barking at certain people?
My soon-to-be one year old is super super friendly to all strangers except for children and my parents. I live downstairs in an office turn bedroom and so he doesn't see my parents at all really. But about 4 months ago he started to bark wildly every time they come home. It gets worse if they come downstairs to my room area. My mom, he will stop after a while but my dad drives him crazy. It take a while to stop him. I keep telling him "NO!" and "Bad boy!" and "Shhh" but I have to pick him up to get him to quiet down to just growling. My parents are not dog people but the few times they met him, it's usually at the dinning room and there were a few chicken pieces from my dad before and leftovers from my mom. I'm not sure why the barking started?
At around 2 months ago, I found out he dis-like younger children and will bark at them until they leave or I pick him up to quiet him down. I have a 13 and 11 year old nephew who he loves. He only seems to have a problem with those under 7-8? I'm not sure but he has scared off 4/5 families so far who had a younger kid when they came to pet him at the pet store. He caused 2 of them to cry
I don't think he had any experience with young children when he was a pup, I have a feeling I did not socialize him enough then...
Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
