This is a great training guide. I use tethering for Daisy when we go visiting so I know she is not getting into anything or marking. Everyone thinks I am nuts. |

Wow! I was just going to post a thread asking for the best training program to use. My ex husb has a yorkie that is just a little wench! I can't stand to be around her. My brother also has a yorkie that is very cute and not to bad, but not too well behaved either. When I got Cricket, I made a commitment to myself that I would do whatever I could to ensure she was a well trained little girl that would be a good example to the breed and not the type that would cause people to say, "Oh... you have one of THOSE dogs, Ugh!" I am looking forward to using some of these aids to get Cricket off to the right start while I wait for training to start. Thanks so much! |

Tethering is when you attached the leash to your dog and to yourself so the dog can't wander off on his/her own. Ann - great thread...I love this trainer...:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: |
I was wondering i have heard that clicker training is really affective. Any help?Is it better than regular possative training? |

Looking for this guide Hello, all! I am looking to bring a new puppy home within the next few weeks and have been scrounging the internet & used book sites for information. I have downloaded every pdf I have found regarding dogs/puppies/training/etc., but haven't come across a yorkie-specific PDF that I don't have to pay for. Got very excited to see that one was available here, but just got disappointed when I clicked the link and learned that it's no longer working =[ I also haven't bought any books yet in hopes to find electronic copies online. Has anyone heard of this book? "Dog Who's Always Welcome: Assistance and Therapy Dog Trainers Teach You How to Socialize and Train Your Companion Dog" by Lorie Long I found it as an ebook when I was looking for "How to Behave so your Dog Behaves," and was thinking about buying it. |

This is very helpful :thumbup: I got a 10 week old yorkie three days ago and started training this morning. He's already potty trained, so I started training him follow me in the house and come when called. I am so surprised the trainings worked very well. It's been only one day! He now follows me around and comes 99% when called :cool: =) Thanks so much for the tips |
