Thank you for a great training guide. I just got my puppy for 3 days and im having a hard time right now training him. Just wondering, since Yorkie's bladder is small, how long will it take for them to fully potty trained without pee/poop within the crate? |
Thank you! This is great information. I appreciate it. |
Can't open I hate to be a pain, but I just can't open the links. Would you mind emailing it to me? mary.cowser@yahoo.com Thank you |
Oh my goodness, what a wonderful guide! Thank you SOOO much for putting this together. I'm gonna' be a new parent soon and am definitely gonna' use this guide on my new baby girl! Thanks again (: |
dog aggression I have a 16 week old yorkie who wants to be the boss. She will come to you and kiss you then two sedconds later will bite your finger. if i try yelling at her she will snarl and bark and show her teeth. I would love to find out what I can do before this becomes a real problem:animal-pa |
Has anyone read Dr. Yin's book: Perfect Puppy in 7 Days? Obviously I don't think a puppy can be perfect in 7 days but the book expounds on this guide and is over 150 pages long with tons of pictures/illustrations and has gotten good reviews. I am not sure about parts of it and that is why I am asking. In one section she basically says that giving a dog food in its bowl is lazy and for pet owners that don't want to put the effort into training their dogs and spending time with them but her other techniques and instructions are getting lots of praise. Also I'm training my Lola on pads as it has been recommended that she not go outside to potty until her second set of vaccines (I really don't want to debate my decision to vaccinate, please :)) and I don't think there is much pertaining to this. Any info out there? TIA! |

Hi there, clicker training is using positive praise and a treat. It's a wonderful metheod. The trick to it is clicking immediately when the dog does as its told and treating the dog right after the click...Lets face it--our beloved breed is extremely intelligent---we just have to catch up. they're like raising toddlers---teach them right from wrong---have limits----and they won't be spoiled--they will be happy, trained ,well adjusted dogs that everyone will enjoy. |
Shots for our pups are necessary. but our tiny breed cannot often tolerate more than 1 shot per visit. Most vets agree & will let you make appts. with their vet tecks and not charge you an office visit. I agree pups should not be out & about till they have all their puppy shots.Even when people used to come to see my pups...I made them take off their shoes at the door and wash their hands. My new yorkie is 8 yrs old. got him his rabies 1st & get another shot every 2 wks. |
You already have a problem.Don't yell at her ...will make her worse....look up Victoria Stillwell. She is a wonderful dog trainer and behaviorist.Very down to earth, never any yelling, hitting, etc. She used to be on Animal Planet---she is the best one to help you.I do know not to leave the dog on your lap or even on a couch next to you when she displays this bad behavior. put her down immediately=you don't have to say a word.Look up Victoria--I know she'll have the answers you need. Good Luck. |

I just purchased my second Yorkie a 6 mo male... I have two problems potty training him and barking... He has a pee pad that he won't use but will shred and go pee elsewhere or hold it til he can pee elsewhere and he barks and whines morning noon and night... My 1st Yorkie was 11 mo and he was potty trained fairly easy and never barked... Taking into consideration they are two different yorkies how do I correct both problems... |

It is sad to announce that the amazing author of this article, Dr. Sophia Yin, passed away last month due to suicide. :( May her excellent advice and work continue to be shared. |

had questions I got a lot of good information on the link shared and had questions. It's so very sad such a talented women took her life when she had so much more to offer. My puppy is 10 1/2 months old and I was wondering if the method of leash training attached to myself is to late to start now. He doesn't come when called . We did the petsmart begginer class and passed with flying colors. He seems to be going in reverse. Suggestions welcome! |
Hi i could not open the link to the training guide could it please be mailed to me chanevr14@gmail.com Thank You |

HI everyone, I'm new to posting, so if I mess this up somehow, please forgive me (?) ;) My baby Sheba (short for Bathsheba, lol) is 4 months old now; brought home 8 wks. I'd like to teach her some things, but the links above are dead...as well as many others I've come across on this forum:( Does anyone have any advice for me? I want her to come on command, but since I picked her out at a breeders home, she jumps back. My husband thinks she's playing, but it is frustrating. I spend the majority of time with her (hubby is traveling consultant) so I'm the main caregiver & I want to learn how to train her. I've only had large dogs in the past; shepherds, mixed, rottweilers, etc in the past...always adopted, but hubby's dog passed & nothing could console him except another dog. I said either a yorkie or a rottie... LoL! Anyway, looking for some good advice. Thank you! |
Dead link :/ Sounded good, but dead link darn it Quote:

Help! I am new to this site. I have to know how you pottie trained your yorkie in 3 days. My puppy is 12 weeks. We have had her for almost 3 weeks now. We are training her on the wee wee pads. I started to get her to pee on them but never poop. Now she hardly even goes at all on them. I would appreciate any advice you could give me. Thank you!! |
The link is not longer working. Can you please email it to me? I would appreciate it! My yorkie needs it! lstaroba@gmail.com |
