| Howling and apartment living We have had Karimella for just over a week now and we love her, except for her howling when we leave. She is so loud, I can hear her several apartment buildings down from us. So far, we haven't had any complaints but it's so loud, it's only a matter of time. I've tried leaving treats, I walk her and my other small dog beforehand, and nothing has helped. Even when I go take down the trash she howls continuously until I get back. I don't reward her when I get back, just softly walk around until she's calm and then reward. My biggest worry is that I'll go back to work in a few weeks and she will be alone for at least 5 hours. My local SPCA recommended a wind-up toy but I'm not sure what he's talking about. Has anything worked for others? |

| maybe leaving the tv or a radio on would help. Make her feel like there is someone else there. |

| You've only had her for a week. She needs to get used to your routine, and know that you are always going to come back. It takes a while for them to adjust to a new home, a new life which is different than everything they have ever known up to this point. Give her time, leave for short periods of time and come back. Don't make a big deal of leaving. You didn't mention how old she is?
