YT 500 Club Member | I was just playing with him on the couch with his sock toy tesing him with it and he tried to bite me. I told him no and made him get off the couch. Maybe it's because the sock smells like his treats (he's food aggressive)?

| mine sort of learned by playing with my bf's dog who knows how to play fetch. she used to always chase the toy i throw but never brought it back. after letting them play together and always seeing the other dog bring it back, she eventually learned to bring it back too. |

| Your dog shouldn't bite you, not even during play. This needs to be discouraged immediately. It is a good idea to stop playing tug-of-war with a dog that is even a bit aggressive. Try passive games instead. You can try a treat ball or kong to keep him busy. I don't think it matters that it was a sock, but you need to work on his food aggression as well. A dog that is food aggressive usually thinks he is the leader - I don't mean the leader as in boss/slave relationship, I mean the observant, fair and strong leader that your dog can look up to. You can also teach him to catch - they love that game! Throw treats at his mouth for a while. He will come to expect it after a few throws and will try to catch it. If he goes for it, praise him. If he catches it, praise him like crazy! This way you will teach him to play with you and on his own, with no risk to your hands. Good luck.

| Has any of your dogs ever "lost" a favorite toy...such as Winston's ball rolled under a piece of furniture and he could see it, but he couldn't get it. OMG the frantic look on his face and the pacing back and forth from us to his ball and that pitiful crying...it reminds me of Lassie trying to tell someone that Timmy's in the well. He's such a smarty pants!!!
