| how do i know if its working....? i brought toby home almost two weeks ago at 8 weeks... and so far with the crate, and me watching him, and taking him out pretty regularly he has only has one pee accident in the house, and it was my fault b/c he didnt go outside and i let him run around without full supervision. sooo he is doing awesome, but i feel like if he had to go, he wouldnt tell me. so its like he knows what to do when we go out, but does he really understand?? will he ever tell me when he has to go? or will i be stuck taking him out every couple hours...? thanks guys |

| he is still a little baby. just stay consistent, and don't give him the opportunity to go in the house if at all possible! He will start associating the back door, or wherever you take him out, with having to go potty. I lived at home with my parents when I first got Lucy and she still jumps at the back door when we go over to visit.

| Sounds like you are doing everything right...except that one accident, try very hard to stay on top of this and before you know it, he'll be 100% trained. Winston will go to the back door and bark...some people have used a bell at the door for training as well. But for now, keep on the schedule and supervise his every move. Way to go...you're doing a great job!!!

| I was wondering the very same thing. Rudy has had a handful of accidents, mostly my fault, I think we had such a great first week that I trusted him more than I should. He is still learning. But I was having that same thought this morning, when will he let me know he has to go. We are trying to bell train him and we ring it every time we go outside to potty but I am waiting for the day I hear the bell ring all on his own. For now, I just try to take him out every hour to every hour and a half. |

| He is still really young You are doing great so far, keep it up and be consistent. The Potty Bells are a great thing to have. If you start using it now, he will eventually ring them himself. You can do a search on this site for pottybells or bell training and it will bring up lots of good info for you
