first time yorkie owner. Hi everyone, I'm new to the Yorkie Talk forums, and so far this place is awesome, I have a two month old yorkie by the name of Tatyana. She's fantastic gorgeous, adorable and loving! The only problem I'm having is getting her to sit down, I got her on tuesday so I'm pretty sure it'll take a while to get her to finally sit, but my question is How do you get a them to settle down enough to want to listen to you?? Or what is the best tips you can give for these examples. 1. she tends to sleep during the day and wakes up at 4am on the dot wanting to get into my bed, by making yelping noises. I normally ignore her but it's getting to the point where it's hard. 2. Training her to sit, we've been working on this for a few days each day, she does sit when she's tired, but not when I tell her too. So any suggestions on these two would help so much!! What can I do to get her to sleep all through the night?

Congratulations on your new baby. However, she is very young and actually should still be with her mother at just 2 months of age. The rule of thumb for puppies is that they can hold their potty for 1 hour for each month of age so your girl is only 2 months which means she should need to potty every 2 hours. It takes a while for them to sleep through the night...I have 2 boys that are 18 weeks old and they still get up to play during the night and they want everyone up at about 5:15! Where does your baby sleep? Is she in a crate or puppy pen of some kind?

Well two months in baby years lol, she's actually eight weeks. And she sleeps in a play pen, with a puppy bed, and a blanket and toys which keep her comfy, the thing is as long as I'm near her she'll sleep perfectly fine, but once the lights go out and I'm in bed she tends to wake up and start yelping and want to sleep with me, WHICH is totally fine, I just don't want her to get into the habit of if I yelp mommy will come put me in her bed. But I want her to be able to sit down, and listen but she has the attention span of a three year old which is adorable! because she wants to look at everything and smell everything and then pees on the floor which I have been putting the wee pads down for her to go potty on which has been helping cause she gets up at night and uses the potty and lays back down.

I'm proud of her, everytime she goes potty rather it's just to poo or go wee I give her a treat for it. So she is getting the hang of it. Once she gets all of her shots, we will go outside to potty.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Yep.. i dont think she'll sleep throughout the whole night until she is older. But i would keep her active during the day so she will be exhausted at night!! i didnt catch how old she is right now, but when they are young they have such small bladders.. she will probably hafta go every couple hours or so..

She's eight weeks, she'll be nine weeks on tuesday. And yeah as soon as she goes to the bathroom she's like up and bouncing around wanting to get in the bed with me, but tomorrow we are going to spend the day at the nursing home with my aunt, so it'll give her a reason to want to play.
