Hello! I'm a new Yorkie mom as well. My Boomer is 13 weeks old. We've been together for 10 days now. What works for me is taking him out for his last potty breaks at 11:00pm then 1:00am. Then he "goes to his room" in his crate next to my bed. Once he's in I close the door and say nite-nite and give him a treat. He whines a little and I'll say, "settle down, nite-nite" and when he stops I'll give him a treat and say, "good boy!" I'll turn off the lights and a night light about 5 feet away comes on - it's just enough for him to see me in bed. He eventually falls off to sleep. He's up to five hours without needing to go potty. So I at least sleep til 6am. I increase my alarm by 15min a night for sleep time - he's coming along fine!!

I'm a first time yorkie owner too! Kerah is about 5 months old. She is very shy to new people but i'm going to be working with her so that she can someday understand that strangers are okay. She's scared of EVERYTHING, her previous owners had her inside all the time and she never was socialized as a puppy. I am hopefully going to do some training classes with her at petsmart, but I dont have her papers yet, I should have them soon though.

'Sit' is one of the easiest, but she's only 2 mo old. In the meantime, everytime you see her sit on her own, say the word sit. Our yorkie was 11 weeks when we got her. It took her a couple weeks to get to a stage where she was able to focus a little. Work with her when she is not in a high energy mode helps, and only for about 5 minutes at a time with tiny treats. It's not reasonable to expect these little tykes to accept commands, collars, leashes, walking, etc all at once even though we usually are so anxious for it all to happen at once. When she's old enough, sign her up for puppy classes & be sure to do your homework. Puppyhood is a process.

If you don't want her in bed with you everytime she yelps, then don't let it get started. Have you tried a night light? Our little girl was happier at night with more than one night light. Sometimes just talking to her quietly a little may settle her down for more sleep time.

Get your creative imagination to work, cuz she'll probably have you using every bit of it before your done. There's almost always more than one right way to do everything, so keep an open mind. What works for one dog doesn't necessarily work for another. Take advantage of YT. There is so much helpful information here. Good luck!

hiii !!!! im new to yorkie talk and so far im lovin it..
im a new yorkie mommy as well - its tough cuz i swear its like havin a child around.
one tip that really helped when we first got our two puppies (we also got a jack russel - ten times more hyper than a york) about an hour or so before bedtime we would play with them nonstop - make them run around like crazy, that way they would be worn out - for the most part they slept throughout the nite which was wonderful.

as far as gettin her to sit, try holdin a small treat in your hand, let her smell it and possibly just lick it once or twice just to get the taste of it. then say "sit".. obviously she wont automatically do it, but thats where you come in, gently push her booty down a bit until she gets the point to sit, once she does you praise her and give her the treat... repeat this a few times for a couple of days and she'll get it right... its all about repitition.

ps. be happy that they dont grow too fast, you get to enjoy those puppies moment a whole lot longer =)
