| puppy classes Hi, I was just curious how many people have taken their yorkie to training classes. Ours is so rotten lol he just seems so excited all the time I just think it might be the best for us to learn how to teach him and calm him down and for him to learn from the classes and from us! The only problem is he is three months old and is TINY... he went to the vet 2 weeks ago and gained half a pound in three weeks!!! He only weighs 1.5 pounds! but is growing fast!!! Is that too small to bring him???? Do you think it would be well worth it? any ideas?!! |

| I think puppy classes are very important for all dogs. Even if it just gets your little one out and about socializing with other people and dogs. I would check with the place that you are going for classes and see what they say about the size. You might also want to look into a class that has only small dogs. |

| I took Piper to a puppy class at our local Petco. She did learn how to sit, down, stay and the beginnings of come. She only does that one when it suits her needs. Piper is never around dogs so I thought puppy socializing would be good for her. There were 6 dogs in the class. Mastiff, 2 Goldens, Boxer mix, Coton and Piper (Yorkie). She was terrified of all of them except the Coton. Being that they were both small breeds they got along great. The other puppies were well behaved but they were just so big. They would want to play and she was interested but when they pounced on her they really scared her. I think you would be better off finding a class for small breed puppies. A 3 month old Golden is huge next to a 2lb. Yorkie.

| Thanks!!! I talked to the lady who would be teaching Joey, she said that we could do a group class ( which I am hesitant because I would hate to see him pounced on im always so worried) or we could do a private class! I think the private class would be WAY better for him, just because I KNOW he will pay more attention to us if there were not other dogs around! He LOVES other dogs but all the dogs are so scared of him... the only dog that will somewhat play with him is my roommates pom! it's cute! thanks again!!! |
