my reeces has decided when its time to go to his crate at bedtime he poos in the floor.

i'm about ready to pull my hair out. i know he don't like the crate as he has always been free to roam at night but due to him peeing in the floor he has been crated. i dont' know what to do with him...can someone please help me?

Maybe he is trying to make sure he doesn't need to go in the crate? Kind of the same principle as making kids go to the bathroom before a long car ride.

Is he pad or outside trained? Can you just take him to his poop spot right before crate-time?

Alternatively, maybe he knows that if he poops, the ensuing hoopla and clean up will keep him out of the crate for another few minutes.

Cleo is my first yorkie, but i have 2 "big" dogs that i have successfully crate trained (and so far it has been pretty good with Cleo also). I always associate the crate with something positive i.e. a treat. I just throw a small treat or piece of kibble into the back of the crate and she runs in after it.
