Just wondering - Is this a yorkie thing? LOL I am a new yorkie owner after 30 years and am not having this problem (yet), but my first yorkie had this little "quirk". YUCK Too bad we can't teach them to use the potty and flush!! |

When I make my 3 their dinner I use kibble but I also add Evanger's Venison and packed pumpkin. So if they do not like pineapple or want to switch it up a little for variety this will also work. My "recipe" is a can of Evanger's Evanger's Dog and Cat Food Company The price on their site is PER CASE so don't freak:p I buy from my local doggie boutique for about $1.30 per can. The pumpkin is about $2.00 per can. Here is the type of pumpkin I am talking about: LIBBY'S Nutriton - NESTLE VeryBestBaking.com 1 can of Evanger's game meat 1 can of packed pumpkin Mix together in a bowl for storage I add about a tablespoon to their dry kibble and then a little warm water mix together to form a gravy that sticks to the kibble. My three LOVE it!!! The mixture will last me a week with 3 dogs feeding 2 times a day. I have feed this to Doodlebug since he was about 4 months old with his puppy food. It even helped with his upset tummy problems he was having. So it is a win/win solution! :animal36 |

How long does the feeding them pineapple thing to work before they stop eating their poop? I have a 11 week old boy and I caught him eating it one day so I figured I would try the pineapple thing. I have been giving him some for 1-1/2 days and I just caught him chewing a piece again! Damn his breath stinks!!! I have also tried some of the pills from pet smart but he wouldn't touch them. HELP!!! |

Just to clear up a couple of things, pineapple contains BROMELAIN, which is an ingredient that is used in meat tenderizers. Certain dog foods use meat sources with a harder to digest protein, and BROMELAIN is an enzyme which helps digest these proteins. The poop no has undigested protein in it to attract the dog. It doesn't smell that different, it just no longer smells nutritious, because the protein is gone. |

You can also add canned pumpkin to the food. It is also suppose to do the same thing. |

poop eater my 4 month old is eating her poop also. I gave her some crushed pineapple because that was all I had in the house, and she eat it. The next time she went, she had very watery stools. I only gave her a small amount. I don't know what to do. I am feeding her the science diet and she goes to the bathroom like 4 times a day! I don't know if that is normal or not.? |

It's probably not the pineapple. How is she doing now? |
|
This is normal... Dogs have a very acute sense of smell and as a result can smell the unused minerals in their poop. Just try to clean it up as quickly as possible so to keep it to a minimum but I would not worry too much about it. My vet told me it is one of those "dog will be dogs" kinda things. |
