| ![]() My name is Chantequa and I am new to this site, I got a Yorkshire Terrier for Christmas named Muffin ![]() Another major thing is food...what can she eat. One of my associates told me she lets her dog eat fries and it sounded kinda dangerous, so b4 I take that approach I would like to kno some of the things that are okay for them to eat. Thanks and be blessed ![]() Last edited by cramey1239; 01-28-2009 at 05:57 PM. |

| ![]() Never, never give your yorkie people food! Thier digestive system can not tolerate it. There are plenty of safe fun treats available for your bundle of joy at the puppy store. I have three of these great dogs and would never subject them to people food. My youngest grabbed a piece of fatty ham at Thanksgiving that fell on the ground on the way to the trash. He got so sick I thought he had parvo. He recovered in about 36 hours.Good luck and have fun. A true yorkie lover |

| ![]() Hi and welcome to YT. Congratulations on you new puppy. Good luck on the licking...it's just a natural thing with them. You may try to give Muffin a toy when she starts licking. As far as food, you should search in the health and diet section. There are many, many opinions on diet. I feed my two Innova dry. I also give them cooked veggies such as carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. They love it. They have a blanket/bed by our kitchen table where they sit/lay while we eat dinner. They get a small treat after our dinner, be it a small piece of meat or veggie. As for treats, I give them Zukes, Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance roll (it's really a food but I use it for treats) and Yorkie Yummies mainly. You can get Yorkie Yummies from Chattiesmom on this site, just search her name out. They LOVE them! There seems to be a lot of discussion on whether corn can be an allergen. I think Hot Rod was allergic. He was very itchy when we got him and that is what he was eating. If you should decide to switch his food, you will need to do it gradually as their little tummies will get upset if you do it too quickly. I hope this gives you a little bit of information as there is a whole lot to learn yet. And a whole lot of fun to experience too. Just keep asking and I am sure you'll find get your answers. Good luck and can't wait to see pictures of Muffin.

| ![]() Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! We are glad you are here. ![]() One reason french fries can be so bad for Yorkies, is that fat in table scraps, can cause Pancreatitis. Yorkies get get this easily, for some reason. You can give your furbaby all kinds of healthy dog treats, as other members have mentioned. They can also have things such as green beans (with no salt and no meat) and apples, in moderation. This is a great place to get all kinds of information. Hope you enjoy your first year with Muffin.

| ![]() Here is a link to dangerous foods, etc: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...l-hotline.html Good luck with the licking! We have three dogs, two rarely lick, but Wrigley is a licker!! Yorkies are pretty known for that! Congrats on your new baby!
