my toby is 3 months & he is doing really great with peeing on the training pads, but he wont poop on them for some reason. he will run straight to his pad and pee but if he has to poop he does it right beside it , or runs to a corner. i dont know how to make him understand he needs to poop on it to.it only took him a few days of working with him to get him to pee on the pad. but he just can see to get that he can poop on it to does anyone else have this problem or have any advice on how to teach him to poop on it? i am using the pads right now because it is so cold outside and he is so tiny.

i use them for my adults as well and i bought a clear plastic rubbermaid container that was not to high and cut out the end and put the puppy pad inside .mine use it all the time

We are finding the same issue. Basically we just stay vigilant and everytime he is about to poop in the "wrong" place we scoop him up and put him on the pad. Often times he'll leave it and try to go back to another area, but we just keep putting him back on. After he poops on the pad we click our clicker and then treat him. Today he finally went over himself to poop on it. We clicked and treated.

My Rudy does the same thing! Actually, it's hit or miss. Sometimes he uses the pads to poo put other times he does it somewhere else. I can't figure that out either. I'm good about keeping clean pads down. I also put at least two down so he has room because he walks when he poos. And, he's sneaky, too. I almost never catch him doing it. He usually waits until I am going "potty" or I'm in the shower. Oh, and the other thing I noticed is that he will bark to be let outside to poo but he never tells me he has to go out to pee. He just runs to his potty pads. I don't get that! I'll just keep watching this post to see what others advice. Thanks for asking!

It's good to know that I'm not the only one having this problem.. I've had Kobi for 3 weeks, since day 1, he's always went pee on his pee pad but always goes poop on the carpet. I'm not quite sure what to do.

im glad i asked this, its good to know i am not the only one having this problem, i am not sure what to do . if i cant him in the act i quickly pick him up and set him on the pad, but he just wants to run off. hope someone can give me some advice.

maybe try putting two pads down...when oliver first started using his pads, he refused to poop and pee on the same one. also try putting a tiny bit of poo on the pad (just a small mark) so he will smell it and go there...this works for my oliver.

Hi! Just wanted to follow up that I tried one of the suggestions I saw for putting down two pads. Also, when Rudy poo-ed in the wrong spot, I took tissue and picked it up, but I smeared a little of it on one of the pads. Later when he went to poo again he used the pads!!!! Yeah! I was so thrilled I gave him a treat. He looked at me like I was crazy but now I know why mommies of humans get so excited when their kids go potty in the potty versus their pants. It was like that! The only thing I did notice is that the pee leaked between the two pads. No biggie since they were on the linolium so now I overlap them. Thanks to whoever suggested that and to others working on the potty training I say keep up the work, it WILL happen!

I'm having the same problem with Joey. Yesterday he walked onto the paper, sniffed around while I happily watched, squatted, then jumped off the pad and pooped on the carpet right next to it. I'm going to try laying down another pad and see what happens. He might just decide to find a new corner. He is also trained to go outside with my older Yorkie, who is completely housebroken (it took 10 months of diligent effort) and will do so, but he definitely prefers pooping in the house and I would rather he use the paper than my carpet.

I'm still trying to get my pee pad trained at two months. He is used to going outside and I'd like him to know both incase he can't go outside. I put a piece of his poop on a pad hoping the smell of his urine and poop would stimulate him to do it. Hit and miss. He starts to hit the carpet and I, as fast as I can, put him on the pad. All I can say right now is keep on trying. I say no firmly and say good boy on the pad. He doesn't care. Try it though. It might help. Each time he does, put some of it on the pad and show him and say poop - paper?

Help to anyone! please for suggestions or how it worked for you.
