| The family "Den" This could be long, but I will try to sum it up! Moose is two, we got Mimi almost 5 months ago and she is now 18 months. We let both sleep with us at night. For the last few months, Mimi will attack Moose in the middle of the night. We will all be sleeping and bam....she is in attack mode! I feel she is having Protective, Territorial, and Possessive Aggression towards Moose at night. SHE DOESN'T WANT HIM ON THE BED AT ALL! She growls at him when he gets up on the bed. We tried putting her on her back and telling her no growl and wait tell she is calm and submissive (I have been watching EVERY Dog Whisper show I can find!!) When she get up she goes back into her mode! I bought a crate and thought we would make her sleep in it. She doesn't like it! We have very long and sleepless nights when she is in the crate! I really want her to be able to sleep with us, but I want her to know that she is NOT the Dominant one and she in low in the pecking/pack order! HOW DO I MAKE HER TRULY UNDERSTAND THIS???

| By letting her on the bed and other furniture it is telling her she is dominant. When you want her on the furniture you should pick her up or tell her to go on your lap. She shouldn't be able to decide when she wants to go on the furniture or be picked up. It should be your decision. You should try crate training or exercise pen training, starting slow. I am taking care of a Yorkie for a few days and he had no leash training or boundaries. I had to teach him to like the exercise pen because he marks in our house (not neutered). I stayed in the room with him at first, not paying attention to him. He whined but I ignored it and praised him when he was quiet and good. Once he didn't whine any more I went to other rooms, taking a shower, getting something from downstairs, etc. It has only been a day and he has come so far already. |

| I know I should be stronger with the "crating" at night. But I really would love to have both of them in our bed. I just don't know how to make her realize that she is not the top dog on the bed~

That said she needs to earn being on the bed. Sit, down or stand before she gets up and off you pick up and put on floor or ask off and help gently get off as soon as she grrs but not a word not one and as soon as she settles back up not a word but the sit first. Sleeping with you is a prvalage and it ok if she can follow the rules which is no grr and share. Kennel try again teaching her a kennel is a good thing as in an emegrancy and they have to be in one it is nice they can hang out in calm. To teach it you may have to open it up and lay in on the floor and toss treats in it just to get her in. Once she steps in reward with the cuddles and the treats. Once she can walk over it put the lid on block the door open and see if she will go in and out. Then once she can go in and out close and open the door and let her back out slowly work up and I mean slow over a few days to having her in and laying down with door close to a few mintues always after the door opens give a treat and even while she in you cna give a treat. Always stop a the second she loos at all worried that door may never open. Latly shelf the dominace stuff dogs are not out to rule the world they are out to get what makes them happy and happy for her is Mom and bed without brother. JL
