| crate training my lucky is 4 months old and sleeps in the laundry room with baby gates. i dont like his bed in there because its not a big room and his food bowl is right next to it and he eats in his bed (the crumbs in his bed drives me nuts!!!!!). i just have a thing about eating in bed . i wasnt letting him sleep in my room because hes not fully pottytrained yet. when he's in the laundry room he goes on the pp pads but when he's in other rooms (even with pp pad) he has accidents. i want to buy a crate i could put in my room next to my bed but i think he will cry all night from being locked in. when we first got him we had him in a playpen in the laundry room.the breeder told us thats how she kept her dogs. but after about 3 nights of no sleep and constant barking and even a few complains from the neighbors we threw that palypen outside and bought babygates for the laundry room. and hes been cool ever since. but the room is to small to seperate food bowl,pp pads and bed. i read thats its not good to have those items so close to each other so i want to move his bed out but am afraid he'll crap on my carpet in my room . when im at work i want him in the laundry room because i have an alarm with sensors in all the rooms so i dont want lucky to set them off and scare himself half to death but at night i want him to be next to me. any advise out there. is it to late to change his bed to a crate and put in my room ?????

| It's not too late to crate train him, he just might be alittle more 'stubborn' than a younger Yorkie. Because dogs love their den, you will probably be doing him a favor by giving him that space to claim as his own. |

I agree it's definatleyl not too late to crate train. Mollie is 17 months old and now the only time I put her in her crate is if I'm going to be gone all day. But, I think crates are a wonderful thing. Just be sure to praise him and give him treats for going in. That was how I trained Mollie and I had no problems whatesoever. Good Luck. Sheila | |

| Did you give any thought to a playpen? that is what I use because it is big enough for a wee wee pad, food and water and a bed and it is open in the top so you can put it by the bed and put your hand in to comfort them and they think you are right there with them. |
