![]() Please help me! I honestly don't know what to do anymore. My puppy won't stop eating his poop. He's been doing this for over a month now. I've tried feeding him pineapple, but that doesn't work. I'm giving him the same pet food that his breeder uses (Eukanuba dry kibble), and I tried pulling him away and cleaning his poop before he can get to it. My puppy is indoor trained so sometimes when he poops, he'll bring it inside his crate and continue eating it there. I think he does this because I scolded him before for eating his poop. He gets scared that I'll scold him again, so he brings it inside his crate where I won't see him. That's what I'm thinking. Have any of you had this problem? Please send me your advice. I don't want this to become a nasty habit as he gets older. THANK YOU!

| ![]() Franklin used to eat his poop and occasionally still does. We mainly try to take him outside though so that it's not an option. We tried sprinkling meat tenderizer in his food which was supposed to help but didn't really work for us. You might give it a try though. Something that did seem to work was Deter - it's a pill you buy at Petco/Petsmart and feed to them once a day. It's supposed to make their poop taste bad. Also you can sprinkle some Tabasco sauce on his poop and then let him lick it.. he might not ever want to eat it again! If none of that works, I think a change in diet might also help. Eukanuba is full of fillers and artificial flavorings to make it taste good. Since the food is just filler, it is not digested and just comes right out in his poop. He may be smelling it and trying to eat it.

![]() Hi Princess, thanks for the tips! I'll try it out. What pet food do you use? I didn't know Eukanuba was full of fillers. I wonder why the breeder was feeding that to him.

We feed Wellness - Franklin gets Just for Puppy and Maggie gets CORE, which is a high protein, grain free food. We used to have to go to specialty stores to get it, but now fortunately Petco carries it! You might check out the Health and Diet Section Yorkie Health & Diet - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community to find more reccommendations. Just do a search and you will find TONS of threads about food.

![]() Smoky recently starting doing the same thing, I didn't want to scold him, because he was USING his pad, just not leaving it there for me to take care of. He's very fast. lol. My vet recommended something called "ForBID", it is a powder you sprinkle on their food, makes it salty as it goes in and very unapealing to them after it passes. I knew it worked when after his movement, he came FLYING out of the utility room - nothing in his mouth- since then - no problem.. Hope that helps.

![]() What's the difference between just for puppy and core? is Core for adult yorkies? I feel so awful. I've had my puppy for a month and i've been feeding him Eukanuba. My puppy has gained so much weight in the month that i've had him. Could this be a result of Eukanuba? Do you think by feeding him Wellness, he'll lose some weight and get lean?

Other brands I would reccommend are Taste of the Wild, Nature's Variety, and Ziwi Peak. I know other people use Innova, California Natural, Canidae, Merrick, Chicken Soup, Natural Balance, Solid Gold and have had success.
