| He wants me to feed him! I have a 6months old male yorkie that really loves me (that's probably because im the only one who takes care of him) but i have a problem. He won't eat until i feed him and that means that i have to take the food straight from his bowl and let him eat it from my hand. I have to do this 3-4 times a day and im not willing to do this for the 15 years so is there any1 who can help me?

| I've heard others say this also. It is not a habit one should get into. He might believe that is the only way he is allowed to eat. I think I would try some different things. maybe put the food on the floor, or on a plate or in a different place. or put it down and walk away. if he sees you as pack leader, which he should, he might be afraid to eat if you are watching. if all else fails, ignore him, he'll eat if he gets hungry enough. |

| Well cool!!!!! great way to teach a dog not to be possesive aggressive and not a thing to do with pack leader stuff. It is attention getting behavoir. Mom fusses over me cause I not eating look at her fuss if I eat out of her hands. Loads of attetnion both postive and negative. I try a few differnt things.... take teh food and drop it one at a time in the bowl and see if he eats. Mix it up with stuff he noramlly does not get like beans. Put it in a kong cork it with Peanut butter and give it to eat that way. Put it in a buster cube and turn it into a game. JL |

| My girls didn't like bowls. Their tags made noise, they couldn't see good or something. I got salad plates and they both started eating with no problem. I get the ones with the slightly raised edges like for camping. Good luck.

Max is the same way, it has become our every morning routine, he barks and gets my husband, then gets me, we both seat in front of his bowl, and feed him. He's gone days without eating, and we know that if he gets hungry enough he will eat on his own, but we just enjoy doing it, he definitely got us both well trained.

| Wrigley went through a stage like that when she was a puppy! She would only eat from our hand. We just stopped doing it and she skipped a meal here and there at first, but she eventually gave up and started eating on her own!
