Is it bad to train your yorkie with weewee pads and outdoors? I have a new yorkie when I got her from the breeder she was partially house trained to go outside. I have started training her on wee wee pads as well. She is doing well with both. Is that too confusing for her? Or should it be fine to train her this way. |
If she will use both that is great! I have 3 that will only use wee wee pads and 2 who will only go outside. None of them will do both. |
Joey does both, I would take him outside first thing in the morning and last thing at night, but during the middle of the night, I would always use the pad. During the daytime we did both, but the pads are a real convenience for me. |

Cross training to both pads and outside is the best of both worlds. :D |
Bobby goes outside when I am home and he uses the pads when I am not home. Works perfectly. I first taught him to use the pad and then once he had that down he learned how to go outside. He is now at the point where he will sit by the door and look at me when he has to go. |
Porkie uses both and it's great for all of us :D |
I have a question along these same lines. We take Mufasa outside and we have pee pads inside. How do I "teach" him to use the pee pads inside. I guess I just assumed he knew what he was supposed to do. Is there something I should do or a command I should say when I want him to pee on the pad when he's inside? |

Izzy is trained to do both. It really works great because I will take her out to potty most of the time but if I am gone for a while or its raining/snowing then, it works out for the BOTH of us! :) |
What is the name of the spray you use? Does your dog get being able to potty on the pad is o.k. but anywhere else is NOT o.k.? |

I bought the puppy spray too, and have nearly a whole bottle left over. Most pads have an attractant built into the pad, but the spray works well, for washable pads. Once the puppy has peed somewhere, the odor will always be there to its nose, and it takes a special enzyme cleaner to remove those odors, normal cleaning solutions won't work. Also, there own urine is an attractant, and you can blot some up with a pad, and leave that on the pad. |
