Now I know what I am for sure using my Petsmary giftcard on!! Pee Pee Pads and training spray!! |
I'm not necessarily "crate" training but I do have Nahla in my laundry room when I'm gone and at night because she isn't trained. Mufasa gets free reign of the house because he is much better with going outside. |
I dont think it will confuse him My Rocky uses a wee wee pad in the house and when we go outside he does his business outside too but it has to be on the grass ! ha ha h |
MIne does both...this way if I run late coming home I don't have to worry. |
I used a spray attractant to convert my Yorkie from paper pee pads to washable pads. I only had to use it 3x. I too have an entire bottle leftover. That stuff is VERY strong! Don't over spray as I did once or your entire house will smell. I might suggest that if you are going to stay with pee pads you start out using the washables. It will save you money in the long run and they are more earth friendly. They aren't as bad as washing baby diapers by any means. I bought mine on sale here Washable Puppy Training/Whelping Pads www.PersonallyPaws.com They have fancy prints and such but I just went for the straight white pads which are much easier to spot problems or oncoming heats I find. Whichever you decide, good luck! Btw, my Yorkies go outside and inside. Come winter, they will only go inside because they hate snow! |
We had to stick with just using the litterbox until Buddy was trained to always go back to it because he was having to many accidents. Once he got the hang of it and was house broke (at 5 months) he uses the litterbox and goes outside. We are trying the same method with Bella, but she is being a bit more stuborn about it. Here is to hoping she gets it soon!! |
Winston is trained indoor and outdoor. Where we live it can get very very cold so we figured if he knows where to go both in and out than he'll never feel like he has to go out in the freezing cold. The only thing is, is I don't know if he'll ever learn to ASK to go outside as he doesn't have to... he can just go to his pee-pad. So I don't the correct answer to this but it works with our lifestyle. |
Teddi is trained on both pads and outside....I think she prefers outside but it's nice to know if I am going to be gone for a long time or if we are traveling and I leave her in a hotel she will use the pads. I would say out of a week she probably pees about 3 times and poops once on the pad inside. |

Sometimes i feel like such a dimwit....i didnt even think about putting the puppy pad in a shallow litter box......that will solve my problems of him thinking its a toy and dragging it all over the house...THANK YOU!!! OH and i'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO going to buy that spray this weekend!! |
training This is what I'm doing with Lily too. She is good on the pee pad in her area (blocked off with gates) and she goes outside when I take her. Reality is though she has almost no free time but she'll still pee in the house...sigh...I'm a little frustrated. She is 4 1/2 months. Kimberly |
