| I bought a clicker and started training Samson. I printed the lessons from the link in Cacbeary's thread on 8-9. I started by just using the clicker and treating so that he would get used to the sound and the treat. We have practiced the touch and today my granddaughter was here and worked him for about 5 or 10 minutes and he now sits. We will continue and hopefully will learn other things. It's great! |

| Congratulations Sue! I'm so glad you like it. It is a different way to learn. Did you read any of the articles on the clicker training site? Interesting this is how they train dolphins & whales & have success with it. You can really shape them into doing most anything if you concentrate on it. They say the pups are an absolute sponge at 4 months of age.

| I did read the articles on the clicker training site. They are really right on! Samson is progressing very nicely. We only do it 5 or 10 minutes a day, but he is a fast study. I am even using it to have him return to me when he is allowed off leash. (we need a few more lessons on this). I think with time, he will learn many new behaviors. It's great. Wish I had know about this with my last dog. Thanks again for posting the clicker training site. |

| Wow, thats nice. Congrats. I started my puppy lessons last tuesday, in petsco, And they actually gave us clickers,. so i went home and tried it on her. click and treat. But she got distracted. This is my fault. I didnt it in a room with another person in it. And tv on. Now wonder she didnt have her full attention towards me. But tomorrow is school again. i was planning on doing this all weekend, but with this hurrican, leaving us with no power, or ways to get around. We had other priorities other than training. She still got alot of attention and all. but not training. Just crate training while we cleaned up. |

| I'm glad to hear everyone is OK & you have the Internet & are able to post. Sorry for all the mess from the hurricane. I hope you didn't have too much clean up. You still have a few more months of hurrican season too. My friend lives in Florida and his house was fixed recently from a hurricane that hit him hard from last year just in time for the next hurricane season. Oy!
