| Crate Space, Clicker help and treats... I have had my girl for 3 weeks now and she has just enough space in her crate to lay down, stand and turn around....plus a few toys. She has not made one accident in her crate. My crate has a partition that I can move forward and back. I was wondering if you all think I could give her a bit more space or would that not be good? Second questoin: How many treats during training time is too much? Yorkie pups don't eat much of their dog food so how much treats is too much? Clicker help: My dog knows the sit command verbally. I bought a clicker to help with training. My question is .... If I have her in the sit position and I tell her to stay and then slowly walk away...she sits there....at what point tdo I click and get her to come for her treat. Also, do I verbally say anything to get her to come to me? While I'm at it, lol....she will be going for her booster shots next week. I know the vet doesn't know of Eicosaderm so i asked what he offers for for skin and coat. He said he gives Ubavet Omega 3-6-9. I know this will help with the coat (i think) ... does any of those help with skin? |

Sounds like you're doing great!! On the crate, as long as you feel confident in the potty training department, I would say that's a personal preference. Coby is still in the small size crate (stand, lay down, and turn around) and seems to like it small - more den like and cozy. If you move the partition and find an accident, it would be simple enough to backtrack. When mine were little, I sometimes used the dog food (kibble) as the treat. That way I knew that they weren't ruining their appetite for their dinner. Of course, we saved the best treats for the best tricks - like pottying where they are supposed to!! The other two I'll leave to others to answer as I've got no experience there.
