| boring puppy Hi, I'm a new puppy owner with a 3 month old Yorkie named Martini and he had a cold/kennel cough and is on medication that I put on his food. Even when the meds wear off he just wants to lie there. I have to pick him up on the dog trail because he just plops back down and doesn't move. He has two rubber balls, a basket of chew toys and is not interested. Any suggestions? |

| Martini is getting better. He still won't play with toys but he is actually running on the dog trail instead of being a lump on a log. He really likes he Dentabone but doesn't like me to see him chew on it. He lies back down pretending to be sad...haha |

| Um welcome to YT .. you said your puppy is 3 months old? You take him out on the dog trail ? How long of a walk are you taking him on? He is a puppy and a little one at that .. Yorkies are not like labs and large breeds. they are full of energy but only in spurts. I hope you are not over doing it with him . Especially since he has been sick. |

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Plzzzzzzzzzzz talk more with everyone here. You will get Great Advice! @3 months old, the poor little thing hasn't even had time to adjust to things yet. It will take a while for him to feel better being on meds. Just imagine how many puppy steps he has to take on a dog trail for your 1 giant step. Maybe you should consider a larger dog? I wish the best for Martini!

| Boring puppy sounds like an oxymoron if I've ever heard one.

| We had similar problems with Riley when we brought her home at 11.5 weeks. She had a respiratory infection, wouldn't eat, hypoglycemia, you name it. After getting her on the right track health-wise, she slowly started to perk up. It took a few months before she was a silly, active puppy like what we are used to seeing in larger breeds. Make sure everything is going ok for your little guy, health-wise. Is he eating? Is he just lying around or is there a lack of response (i.e. he flops around if you move him - could be hypoglycemia)? These little puppies sleep A LOT! And don't worry about the dog trail just yet...it took months for Riley to be able to even walk a block without tiring and lying down in the grass. If you take your guy on a walk, plan to carry him back. |

| My puppy is nothing like that..she is full of energy about 1/2 the time, and well sleeping 1/2 the time! Also, yorkies are very different from other breeds. I remember when my parents got a lab - walks were an everyday thing almost immediately. my little one is about 3 months old, and we just attempted our first walk last weekend...she made it about a block...she just hasn't gotten used to it yet and that's okay. maybe like someone else suggested you should find another home for your yorkie, and maybe look into a bigger breed that would enjoy the dog trail more? |

| awww I am sorry to hear that your furbaby isn't feeling well. I just took Odie for his first walk.. we walked outside the condo doors and down the 50 foot sidewalk... that was his walk. He came inside and slept for 2 hours.

| Martini ran the dog trail yesterday and up the stairs. I was excited for him! I tried to play with him and his dog toys but he wasn't interested. Until I noticed from my couch that he wanted to play by himself which was the cutest thing ever. He then played sick sad dog when I went over to him.... teehee |
