Please give any thoughts, knowledge in general. Have heard of company HOME AGAIN. If person finds and wants to keep Yorkie ,dol Vets check the chip to verify rightful owner, as person does not know about chip?

They can take the dog to a vet or shelter and most of them have a scanner. They can also have a id tag on there neck that says they have a chip... but most cases the chip is for if the tags are not on.

Home Again is the most popular company.
Vets can check for a microchip but not all vets check all dogs, so if someone steals a dog and takes it to the vet there is no guarantee that the dog will be scanned...
