| Clicker Training I have a 10 week old, and I started clicker training with him about 2 wks ago. He still ignores me when I call him when were not conducting training. Has anyone else trained there puppy using this method and how did it work out for you. I just started and planned on using this for my other puppie also. What are some Pro's and Con's. I noticed on when I reward him, Im really unsure if he is learning or just know that a treat is coming. |

| I used clicker training and Millie did excellent with it. I really do recommend it. It seems that Millie got stuff so much faster with the clicker because I was able to click the correct behavior the instant it was performed. Yes, they do it for the treat, but as long as they are performing the desired behavior, in the beginning it's ok if they are doing it just for the treat.

| Thanks, I was kinda feeling like there wasnt any progress. I feel better know. How long per day did you train. I spend about 15 minutes in the morning before I go to work. With taking him out and potty training, and a couple of exersises like name recognition and sit. In the evening when I come home I spend about 30-40 min. How long per day did you spend with Millie. |

Hi I've used clicker training with great success. I started with my Yorkie at about 12 weeks old. Are you following the methods as far as introducing the clicker first, and click and reward? Before you start any training, get him used to the fact that click means reward. In the beginning I spent 10 minutes twice a day training, then only once a day for about 5 to 10 minutes depending on how she handled it and whether she kept interest. Your baby is still very young just keep at it with lots of repetitions and only short training periods to begin with. Here is a website if you want to read some of the methods that worked for us: http://www.clickertraining.com/

| The trainer had told me to begin him with clicking before training about 50-60 times and then go into training. I might be overdoing it a little, I will try shorter periods mabe I will hold his attention a little while longer. Thanks for the info on the website I will review it. |

| 30-40 minutes is too long. You want to limit the sessions to about 10 minutes. Also, always end the session with a success. So that he will be eager to start a new session the next time around. Clicker training is all about the positive, so when he has done a successful behavior, end your session.
