I've used clicker training with great success. I started with my Yorkie at about 12 weeks old. Are you following the methods as far as introducing the clicker first, and click and reward? Before you start any training, get him used to the fact that click means reward. In the beginning I spent 10 minutes twice a day training, then only once a day for about 5 to 10 minutes depending on how she handled it and whether she kept interest.
Your baby is still very young just keep at it with lots of repetitions and only short training periods to begin with. Here is a website if you want to read some of the methods that worked for us:
