| Crate Training is hard!! I got Zayden about a week ago and ever since he's been sleeping in my bed. I think he got used to it because I just bought him a crate about 2 days ago. I try and I put him in there and he starts barking and crying. Hes 8 weeks old. What can I do? Please Help!!

| congrats on your lil guy...my yorkie is Oscar and he is 17 weeks now. I got him at about 11 Zayden will get used to it. give him a "goodbye bone" turn on some tunes...and leave...at only 8 weeks he can be conditioned. now's the time. It's not cruel either to crate...it's the safest place for him. He won't be able to hurt himself or ruin your house. god only knows what Oscar would get into if he ran around the house... |

| From what I have read, you can crate your puppy for two hours at a time, at his age. Your puppy is two months old, he should be able to hold his bladder for 2-3 hours, but not any longer. Puppies should be able to hold their bladder for as many months they are old. My lil guy is four months and he can go four to five hours, but usually he is in his crate for four hours, I come home at lunch, let him out, play, feed, potty again, back in the crate. It's safe for him. and it will teach him FAST to hold his bladder. But your lil one is very young, it will take some time. Dogs will not, will not go to the bathroom where they sleep. won't do it. unless of course, they are sick. Even my guy, who is horrible on potty training, will not go in his crate, unless he is sick! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Roxie is 4 months old and I let her sleep in my bed but when I am not home she goes in her crate. I try and make sure she goes in there at least 4-5 times a week for a couple of hours when I leave. She seems ok as long as I am not home. But if you want hm to sleep in it you will have to retrain him. He is young and should adjust.

Donating YT Addict | I have had my Ozzy for 5 days now and the after the first night of howling and crying, I moved his crate to the chest beside my bed so he is at the height of my bed. He can see me and I can see him. He goes in his crate when I got to bed and I stick a few fingers inside the crate to comfort him and he goes to sleep within 10 minutes with no crying. Then I can remove my fingers. This worked from the second night on. (he is 11 weeks today) Good luck!

| I have a 17 week old also, who i'm crate training, i take him out when weather permits, but in the past few days with the snow i have had to bring back the pee pad, he does 1 and 2 in his crate all the time, i don't know what to do, i think it has become his potty place, i put him in between 10 or 11 at night after he has gone out, i get up at 3 to take him again or put on pad and at 7 a.m., but if he is in there and he needs to go, he doesn't give me any sign, i know he has gone by the smell. Help, i'm tired of washing him and the crate, should i stop crating him, will he just assume this is the place to potty? |
