Taht is what I did, I spent the entire day on the street with him more or less. He was taken out each hour on the hour for 20 to 30 or more minutes for the entire day, still nothing, after play, nothing, after large amounts of water, still nothing, EATING a heap still nothing, just nothing at all refused to do it, but as soon as he get a few seconds in side he does it in his bedding

| ![]() Are you taking him out with your other dog, I have only had shy for 5 weeks and he caught on by following my other babies, he did have a couple accidents the first 2 weeks, but since then he has learned the ropes and now follows the others, he is only 5mths to, so i know he cant hold it all night like the others yet, so i get up and take him out everynight around 2pm.. good luck, keep working on it, he will catch on.

| ![]() By "box," do you mean cardboard box (eek!)? Or is he really in a crate (metal/high grade plastic)? If he's in a cardboard box, that might be why he's eliminating inside... If he's in a crate, you have to somehow have him realize he's supposed to sleep in there. Maybe entice him with a treat when he's tired? Make sure you're letting him out every two hours at least. Good luck! |

| ![]() See the topic on health board please. The puppy is coming from a very tiny mountain French village, and is now in a big city with trains and busses, cars, motobikes people and the works, he is more in a concrete environment and was grown up in the country. I dont know if this has a lot to do with it, but stil he can very well go on paper rather than his bedding |

Not is is like a crate without a lid and ventilated, I call it a box as it is shaped as a box, so when he is in this he can see me and stand and observe the world, he is only in the covered crate to sleep, either way he poos and pees in both of them

| ![]() I administered a homopathic med last night to Bijou that vet said was ok and is being given to Bandit currently to help cope with Scooby's death and probably will help him with this new adjustment. Well I have my fingers crossed that this has a bit to do with what happened with Bijou. He cried big time to be let out to poo at 5am and did some in the crate but most on the drive way as he couldnt reach the designated area quick enough, he had the runs. then at 8am I put him out on the patio as he cried in his box again, he vomited his bfast then peed, so I would say the vomit may have been due to the stress of him now realizing he is eliminating someplace other than his box or crate. the food was whole he didnt chew it and vomited it back up. he eats rather fast. So he peed one time out of the house, patio or not, it was not in the house YAYYYYY, pitty I didnt see him do it to cheer him on. then the poo this morning. So since he has incredible holding power it seems as his last urine was at 9:45 last night to 8am, he didnt do it last night in his crate. I will take him out in 1.5 hours so he can now see it is to be done outside. Crossing my fingers that this is the beginning of his realization that he is in a new home, and maybe the med did help him relax a bit more ![]() Last edited by soccbydo; 01-29-2008 at 12:17 AM. |

| ![]() I see he is doing better now...but I was thinking that you might be interested in buying him a big x-pen that he can stay in while he is in the house..you can cover the whole bottom with a tarp or disposible table cloth so if he misses the pee pads he wont mess on the flooring...I thought he and Bandit came from the same breeder...but you say this is a friend of the breeder you got him from?? | ![]() I said a big xpen because it might be something you would want to keep him in until he housebroken or pee pad trained. If he was kept outside for 30 mins and didnt go potty then going in his crate on himself I was thinking an xpen would keep him off your carpets yet give him plently of room so he didnt mess on himself...its worth a shot and then he isnt caged in a small crate.. Again, he is not crated all day, he is now back out of his crate and with bandit in the wash room which is fairly big. He and Bandit just made peepee on the patio, I know this is not the optimal but since he didnt do it outside I tried it there and it worked. This is how i also trained bandit when he moved from paper to ppeepad then outside. Hopefully he will realize peepee equals PLAY time, no peepee equals crating ![]() | |
