| ![]() How do you discipline your baby? Only discipline that's ever been needed is the word "No", in a firm tone. What is your exercise schedules? My two are adults now, so we do a 5 mile walk about 4 times a week. How much time do you spend with your baby per day or should I say have many hours is your baby left only each day? I have a work at home office, so I'm home all day. They are baby gated off in my laundry room when I'm away for a short term. What diet do you have for your baby? Nature Variety Raw medallions http://www.naturesvariety.com Just some questions for discussions. o/t question : anybody have vegetarian yorkies? Just generally curious No, They love their meat. |

| ![]() I have a very well behaved dog, but I really worked at making sure she was well trained. My husband and I work, so she is left alone for up to 8-9 hours and she does fine. She sleeps all day. We take her for a walk every day, weather permitting. We walk about 1/2 hour. At just 2 1/2 years old, this seems to be enough for her to remain a relaxed and easy going gal. I know that when she was younger, we would have to take her on 2 walks a day. One in the a.m. before we went to work and one in the p.m. Walking is the key to rid them of their energy. We also socialized Millie and took her everywhere we went when she was little. I would make sure that I focused on events or errands that would allow us to take her with us. In the evenings and on the week-ends, I tend to have her with us at all times. She does like to be with us. If we are going out for dinner or a movie on Saturday or Sunday, then I make plans to be with her and do some activity with her, that is fun, so that she is "ok" when we leave. I plan my week-ends so that we are never gone all day away from her since she gets that during the week with us at work. My discipline was to train her on commands. If I want her to quit barking (she really is not much of one, but will get in gear when she sees a dog in our yard), I tell her "no bark". When she gets into something I don't want her in, I say "Millie, get out of there!" and she will stop. I think it's more the tone of voice, than anything else. Of course a lot has to do with personality too. Millie was never one for mischief. She was not an over zealous chewer, did not get into garbage, or tear stuff up. She like her occasional tissue to rip to shreds but she has really eliminated that bad behavior altogether. We just made sure to stay on top of her about bad behavior by re-directing her to what we wanted her to do and rewarded good behavior. Consistency is the key to all this. The older they get the better they listen too.
