| Miss Meany........... Her real name is Mia, but she's really aggressive when it comes to other dogs and people when I'm walking her. I usually have to pick her up or cross the street. I think she thinks the sidewalk belongs to her. She's four years old and has always been that way. Her mother was sweet and loving but the father was the same as her. Any suggestions? I love her anyway and she loves me, she also barks when another dog walks in front of the house. People are actually afraid of her, (that little cute little bundle of Terrier Terror). Thanks, Lila6753: |

| Welcome to YT. Penny can be territorial when it comes to her crate. LOL Who would think a dog would love their crate.

| Welcome to YT!!! I don't have any suggestions (only 1 furkid and she just wants to be friends with anything that moves), but I'm sure you will get some good advice. YT has lots of friendly and knowledgable people! I just wanted to say hello and tell you to post some pictures if you have a chance. We love seeing cute Yorkies!!

| I have one that acts that way too. It seems no matter what I do, she won't stop that. I want my dogs to be sweet and friendly, but I think they have some inborn personality traits that you just can't control.

| Welcome to yt, there is quite a lot of information in the books on yorkies @ any local bookstore. Its good that we walk our babies but some just can be really territorial I just tell Rockie no and pick him up when he is outside and barks at my 5 year old niece. I have a yorkie book at home, but do not remember the authors name. Oh forgot We have a lot of knowlegdeable members here |

| Is she aggressive or just barking? I know that mine pull, whine, bark at other dogs because they want to go play... but they aren't aggressive. Aggression should not be tolerated and actively worked on through behavior modification so it doesn't escalate into a bite or something worse. There are a lot of training dvd's and books you can buy, and there are articles online for how to help w/agression. |

| Tough Love HI, thanks for replying. I have a book on Yorkies, but it doesn't. say much except that they are territorial. Mia would fight another dog, She's fearless. She's like the Alpha (BOSS LADY). I just hope she's going to mellow as she gets older. When I walk her I put her harness on her so she doesn't hurt herself when she strains herself to get at another dog or person. I don't know how she got that way because I got her when she was 3 months old. She was the last pup and came from a home breeder. She was loaded with fleas, etc. Maybe she was inbred, or just neglected. I can't say. I'm not sorry I got her, she was meant to be mine. I love her and I sure am not perfect either. Anyway, Happy Holidays to you and yours, Mia and Lila6753 |
