| Toys to keep them busy without supervision! I work night shifts, so when I come home, I usually go to bed. This is a bit tough on my little guy, Spike, as he's excited to see me and wants to play. Lately, he's taken to jumping up and down beside my bed and whining for HOURS! I'm not getting any sleep! He has an everlasting treat ball which he loves, but he doesn't play with it unless I play with him. The only thing that he plays with on his own is a plastic bottle filled with kibble, but I would love to find something else I can give him to play with when I get home. Do anyone know of a good toy that will keep him busy that he can play with while I sleep? He loves fluffy toys, but rejected the Hide a Squirrel! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Maybe you could put off your bed time for an hour or so and play with Spike. If he had some vigorous playtime before you went to sleep, he might choose to sleep while you do. Try having a couple of sets of different toys and swap them out each day. You might want to look at these toys. DOG TOYS - The newest dog toys that dogs love I know it's hard to work nights and have a small dog that depends on us for company. When I first got Ruby I worked nights, and went sleep deprived for a couple of months. I would stay up with her for an hour or so, and then sleep for couple of hours, then play again for an hour, sleep for maybe two more hours before dh came home. Fortunately, I had the luxury of choosing to quit my job and stay at home with her.

| There are so many different types of interactive toys out there. Is he food motivated, ball motivated, etc? |

| He is food motivated, provided it's something he really likes! He loves to play fetch with his toys if I throw them, but only after he has brought them to me. If I throw a toy he hasn't brought to me, he won't chase it. By the way, I played with him when I got home this morning, and it made no difference! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! |

| Try the Nina Ottosson toys. They are toys that you stick treats in and the dog needs to work to get the treats out. Makes their minds work, which can also tire them out! |

Sorry, I didn't realize you carried the Ottosson toys at Poochiheaven, or I would have linked your site above in my post. I thought of this brand immediately after reading the OP's thread title. Hey, are the Ottosson toys on sale at Poochieheaven? I've wanted to try one for the kids for some time, and at sale price might just have to order one.

| Thats ok I don't have the Nina Ottosson toys on sale, but you can use your 20% off YT discount on them. These really are great toys. My cat even likes using it- sometimes more than my dog (but he is not food motivated). The two most popular are the "brick" and "tornado". I use this toy when I leave the house so my dog has something to do when I leave. |

My favorite is the Brick. I think the Magic would also be good for the small dogs. | |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I was looking at the magic one and thinking how cute it looked. It's fairly simple too, which my dogs would probably be best at, starting out. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yorkie Yakker | I just got a 15 week old yorkie. She has been spending alot of time with my DH while he is on spring break. She is terribly needy. She has been pulling my socks and undies out of the basket and playing with them. My DH dropped an empty water bottle on the floor this morning and she instantly attacked it. My brain started working. I put the bottle in one of my socks and instant toy! She loves it. He has gotten alot accomplished because of this "new toy". Maybe this will work for you. It makes noise and smells like you! Good Luck! |
