Hair products Hiya - Just wondered if anyone has come across any de-tangler hair products in the UK? Seems to be lots in the US looking at the threads, but I haven't seen (well I haven't looked really) for anything locally. Belle's coat is changing and to old and new hair is getting in a mess, she is getting groomed this week, but I don't want them to think she is neglected

Max and Sam were suffering from midges bites in the summer and I found a site that had a remedy without using chemicals. Clear anti bacterial soap and cider vinegar. Mix equal amounts of both and use as a shampoo. It worked wonders. There was no tangles and no smell of vinegar. Just keep it away from their eyes. I'm still using it. Their coats are lovely and soft.

I use Ice on Ice or Cowboy Magic. Not keen on any that feel sticky. xx Meggie

YT 500 Club Member | I've used to groomers spray and CC mink-oil spray, have to pin them down first as they hate the smell. Though if I do Rosie first Alfie gets jelous and jumps up waiting for his turn, silly boy. |

Is there a hair gel product for Yorkies which is for sale in the UK? The bands that you use for top knots, are they the same as the small hair bands you get for humans (eg from Claires Accessories) which arent rubber bands but like tiny plastic ones which I believe girls use for those thin plaits? Or are they special dog ones? I would like to have a go at creating a top knot on Hedley. He is still a pup and I understand you can slick the hair out of the way of his eyes whilst its growing with some products, rather than trim it. What do you use if you are UK based and dont have all the US products?

I didn't use anything while i was growing belle's hair out in case it got in her eyes But I used a clip that can go lower down than a top knot does instead, so I didn't really need to. You know the sort you have yourself when you are young? the ones that have 2 bars and they sort of "snap" into place as you bend them. I got some really small ones of those from asda - like 12 for two pounds and I gather her hair together and clip it right above her eyes. Sorry i can't help with the bands and gel, I think we will stay with the clips, they are so fast to put in and look super-cute. xx Last edited by Tinksmum; 11-29-2009 at 06:20 AM. Reason: spelling!

Petsilk make a good hair gel for Yorkies. I got mine online but don't remember the name of the company. Just google in Petsilk and you will be able to see who carries their products here. I used to use my son's strong hair gel, but thought I had better buy one that was specifically for dogs.

Just put in an order to petcetera who supply all the popular brands to UK. I ordered some Cowboy magic, some Cintra, a spray cologne, some bands and one or two other things and before I knew it I had spent £50 plus!

Well, when I got to 40+ thats what kept me going! The cowboy magic is really magic though. I just used it this evening. No more mats. He smells lovely as well, from his Petcetera baby powder cologne!! I have put a nice part down his back, very smart. They didnt have cindra in stock so I had to order stick um up for his topknot. For some reason I was sure I had ordered top knot bands, but they didnt come and didnt appear on the order. I concluded that I didnt confirm them, as their website is a bit strange. You add to cart, and then it comes up at the top of the page to confirm.

Was it the cowboy magic detangler and shine that you got? Belle continues to get mats just by normal movement, she has this very soft sort of undercoat that is like cotton-wool and gets very cross when I comb her, so I really want to find something that's super-easy for her. Thanks!
