| Support group in Fresno? Can any of you suggest how I could find other Yorkie owners in my area to meet with and get advice? We got our little Cosmo at 8 weeks, he is now 16 weeks and although some things are just as described in books and we are following the text it would be nice to meet up with some other owners in the area for advice etc. Out last dog was a huge gentle giant and super easy to train, hard to transport. Cosmo is super lovable too and easy to take everywhere but training is more of a challenge..it is like Survivor! Meeting some people woudl be great! |

| Awesome I am in Clovis too!!!! I am off for another 2 weeks so I would love to meet up! I am in need of real advice when it comes to grooming and training etc. I love my vet but Yorkies aren't his speciality! My lil guy is 16 weeks and we bought from a breeder however, Cosmo came to us too early and with too many problems even though he is AKC. I am so glad I met someone on here! |

| Which vet are you going to? Most of the vets around here don't really know all there is to know about Yorkies! Very frustrating!

| I go to Dr. Singh at the Family Pet Hospital on Herndon and Sunnyside. We found him by chance when we bought our cat years ago. He was great when she became sick and he tried to save her with all his heart and very little payment required for all he did. So I really trust him. Plus he has a puppy plan which includes all office visits, shots, etc. Which has come in handy becuase Cosmo has been in a lot. He also spaced out his shots so Cosmo would not be so overwhelmed. However, with some concerns it would be nice to ask another owner before I jump to conclusions. I also need the name of a good groomer. I love giving his baths but trimming is another ball of wax! I am SO excited to meet someone! Have you been to the pet boutique on Clovis and Herndon? |

| I've gone in only once (my dogs eat any clothes I try to put on them!) I take my babies to animal junction for grooming, she uses all natural products (except frontline) and she just loves the yorkie babies! I use to go to Country Vet, but then I found Dr. Suda (Olive Vet) The country vet always has his kids in there and he just seemed to charge too much for the most basic things. I like Dr. Suda, I have heard good things of Dr. Singh too.

| What has your baby had to go into the vet for other than shots? I've been Lucky (knock on wood) I've only had to take my babies in for shots and teeth cleanings

| Where is Animal Junction? I know I have seen it but can't place it right now. I have not bought him too many outfits since it is so darn hot. I bought him 2 little scarfes in old town clovis last night and he keeps it on. I also bought his harness at the boutique on Herndon. I also had to buy a lifejacket becuase we took him out on the boat and was afraid not to have one! Buy the way, he hated the boat and hates the water! My brother has a little Jack Russell and he went into the water..as much as Cosmo wanted to play with him he came to a dead stop at the waters edge. It was so funny! Speaking of funny I have all my sweeties around my feet. I have 2 cats and him. The male cat (Max) and him love to play. Which is great! |

| Animal Junction in right off clovis ave on the street that is between Sierra and 5th/Bullard I can't think of the name of the street for the life of me! ugh! I had to shave my 9 month old and 4 1/2 year old! I couldn't bare them getting over heated with all that hair! My female hates the water too! She'll allow her bathes but that is it! My 9 month old jumps right in if I am in the water! (he is a total mommys boy!) I was in shock the first time he jumped in the tub with me!

| Oh let's see...vet visits. Well, we got him on Mother's Day and I took him the following Monday to the vet for checkup and first set of shots. Breeder had not given him any shots. Then, a few days later visable worms came out in his stools. Took him to vet with sample got him dewormed. A few days later vet called to let us know he had Ghilardia (spelling?) and we had to give a medication for 3 weeks. 3 days on 5 days off and then repeat twice. PLUS we had to get cats on treatment just in case. He was covered under puppy plan which was good becuase medication expensive. Cats...expensive. Then after his second shots he got a lump, I guess normal but another visit. Have to love a patient vet who told me warm compress and massage. However, latley he has been gagging after excercise or water drinking. He goes to vet this Saturday for lyme shot and vet is going to check throat. Have to go go get him, put him out to potty...be right back. |

TRACHEA COLLAPSE There can be a weakness in the trachea and if it collapses the dog cannot breathe. Emergency surgery and inserting plastic devices or coils can be done in some cases to keep the dog alive. This can be caused by severe hacking from a cold or it can be a congenital thing. Symptoms -- A loud honking, dry cough. Gasping, unable to breath. But I don't think that it sounds like that

| I knew I had seen it. It is really close. I live right off Willow & Sierra. He is a momma's boy too and I know what you mean about the bath. He tolerates it and doesn't fuss but doesn't enjoy it either. Surprise though he doesn't mind the dryer. Right now is hair is still growing out but would like more of the puppy cut. I tried to put his bangs back and he was not happy. Brushing goes well for a short period of tme and he hates to have his legs brushed. I don't think I want his hair long. The weather here is too hot and then in the winter with the rain?! I would rather buy him a sweater. I am going to send my e-mail so we can exchange numbers and maybe meet up. I scrapbook so I hope that makes my e-mail make sense. My students thought it meant fighter which is not good Anyway ScrappinBandie@sbcglobal.net I work at a high school so only have a few weeks left off before I have to go back to the grind. |

| I know I have read about that too! But he doesn't have the honking or gasping for breath. I am going to let his vet know on Saturday just to get him cleared. It is so weird. My husband calls him hoover becuase he is like a vacuum and he thinks he gets carpet threads or something. We have to keep everything off the floor. As a matter of fact I lost a pair of new flip flops today! My fault left in the entry way and my daughter let him out of the crate! It only took minutes! He has a million chew toys including that Kong thing, frozen dog toys, etc. but if he gets his mouth on a shoe he is in dog heaven. I read that if you give him a shoe he will think all shoes are okay otherwise I would give him one and let him go to town until it needed replacing! |
