| Pet Insurance advice? I am a full time college student, paying for college on my own, and have a precious Yorkie to take care of so my budget is low. Anyone know of any good insurance companies with good plans? Deals? Anything? Right now Ninja still doesn't have insurance and I really feel like I should get it because he's a small dog and can get hurt easily. Once my roommate accidentally stepped on his paw/arm and he was limping for a few days. I took him to the vet and they were going to charge thousands for xrays!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have VPI on my 3 and it runs about 23.00 each per month. I like having the security of having it. It does not cover congenital or preexisting conditions but other than that I have been happy with it.

| I'm from the bay area. They said it was going to be 3000 for xrays. It was a small animal hospital. The check up was $50 but it didn't really tell me anything about his leg. They said they had to take xrays to tell me more. They put a thermometer in his butt and squeezed his tummy a little and that was $50. I was insurance for the security feeling too. And I'd like to be able to take him to the vet just for some regular check ups and shots. So some basic insurance. What is VPI? Someone also recommended Banfield to me, the hospital inside Pet Smart. Any feedback about them?

| I have VPI standard plan and live in So. Cal. I have used the plan several times. It is pretty inexpensive and has paid for itself over and over again. The plan I selected does not cover well care (immunizations, etc) but my Sebastian has had several challenges over his 7 years including a difficult to find bacteria and ACL surgery. I am upgrading to a superior plan this year - he ages out at 8 yrs old (can't upgrade after 8). I recommend insurance to all my friends with pets and many have come back to thank me. I, too have a good amount of emergency money for his care - and you will still need it because the pet insurance is not what human insurance is - they cover a flat amount for specific injuries, services and illness. You can find more information on VPI at Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) - Dog Insurance, Cat Insurance, Pet Health Insurance Good Luck! |

| We HAD VPI and I cancelled it after 2 years because I felt like they didn't cover ANYTHING!!! It was so frustrating and specially if you live in a big metropolitan city the amount they reimburse you for is a joke!
