| Breeders in Northern CA Hello everyone. I wanted to see if anyone had some breeder recommendations? I'm looking in northern California, preferably the Sacramento and surrounding areas. I've looked at the ads in the paper and haven't been very impressed. I'm hoping to get a puppy sometime before December is out. So if anyone knows a reputable breeder who has puppies ready now or even early January, that would be great. Thanks to everyone. |

| I would go to YTCA.com and look for a breeder in your area or go to infodog.com and contact a kennel club in your area to see if they can recommend a breeder. There are also lots of shows in california to go to. You can find these on infodog also. You will have better luck finding a puppy from a reputable breeder than if you look in the paper. |

| Hi. Thanks for the information. I contacted Meadowland Yorkies, and they have 2 litters due anytime now. Unfortunately, I wanted to get a Yorkie sometime this month or next. I also contacted My Elegant Paws and they are way out of my budget. But thanks so much for the information. I truly appreciate it. |

| Hi. Thanks again for the recommendation. I contacted her and then looked at her website. She only has a little male available right now and she might keep little Holly. She will have another litter in February. But I kind of wanted to get my puppy before my Christmas vacation is over. I'm kind of bumbed right now. It seems like I'll never find a puppy. I always thought finding them would be the easy part, boy was I wrong. I told someone that I would hopefully have my puppy by the time I return to school and he said he would bet anything that I wouldn't. Needless to say, I will probably not be speaking to them for a long time...that was so mean!!! I keep looking in the paper, but nothing so far. I contacted some breeders through a website...I think it was pets 4 you, or something like that. I guess I'll see what happens. Thanks everyone for your help and have a Happy New Year!! |

| Meadowland Yorkies Steer clear of Meadowland Yorkies . . . an unethical and dishonest breeder. |

| Meadowland Yorkies & My Elegant Paws in Sacramento, CA Quote:
I found Meadowland Yorkies online and made an appointment to see this "breeders" puppies last September. I drove 2.5 hours and arrived at a shady looking establishment (which I will not refer to by name). This was her place of business (not where the pups were born and raised, thank god). I met her inside, along with 6 four-week-old pups. We had specified that we wanted a male and there were two of them. The pups appeared healthy and everything seemed OK. We put a $250 deposit on one of the males and agreed to come back in six weeks and pay the rest in full and pick up our puppy. In the beginning of October, I emailed her to see how our pup was doing and she told me that she lost two pups to low blood sugar and the pup that we had a deposit on was also not doing well. The following day, she emailed to let me know that our pup had died. Her policy and her website (at that time) stated that you could get a refund before 30 days of the initial deposit. I asked to have my $250 refunded and she said that money was tight that month and having three sick pups resulted in expensive veterinary bills. Oh, she also said that she was switching residences at the time, and that life was very hectic (yadda, yadda, yadda). She said that I could have my money back after she sold the remaining pups of that litter. OK. So, I call her again in November, and she says that she hasn’t sold all the pups yet and to call her after Christmas because she is sure that they will sell over the holidays. Money is still tight, and she has been in the hospital, and that life was very hectic (yadda, yadda). I email her in January, and she does not email back. I call to speak to her and her cell phone number is out of service (big surprise). I visit her website and her “policy” has changed of course. It now states that she doesn’t give refunds, period. So predictable. I did find a new phone listing for her business online, and called a few times, but no one ever answers. Just voicemail, every time. During all of this, I was able to find and “rescue” a Yorkie that I just adore. And I am ecstatic that I was able to give a good home to a dog that had a very poor start in life. I am just very saddened that a person like this so called “breeder,” who calls themselves “reputable” behaves in this manner. I think I deserve a call, an email, or better yet, my 250 f-ing dollars back. And by the way, I signed no contract stating that I had to put the deposit towards an alternate puppy in case the initial one did not work out. If I did, she could send me a copy of that contract, right? By the way, Meadowland Yorkies and My Elegant Paws are owned by the same person. Don't be fooled and better yet, don't get taken. | |

| Hopefully this breeder can be shut down Oh it gets worse. I didnt want to start anything when I was researching pups, but I checked on this breeder who does in fact own Meadowland Yorkies and My elegant paws. She has been sued and changed several different business names. She shows her dogs out of a BAR, yes a run down bar because I found from Animal Control that she was fined for disgusting living situation for multiple dogs. As if that wasnt enough to make me turn and run to the next breeder....I met a woman involved with AKC after I got my pup and she said that this breeder has altered and lied about all her bloodlines and AKC and CKC are currently investigating her. Please everyone beware that this is not the only type of TERRIBLE puppy mill out there. There are many, so REALLY do your research when finding your pup! good luck and MILO BEAR, I wish you the BEST of luck and am so sorry for you. Glad you rescued though!! thats great!! |

| Thank you for spreading the word. With so many of us looking for puppies, and sometimes getting a bit desperate to find the perfect one quickly, sometimes, we can overlook something that may send up red flags. I really had no idea these two "businesses" were one and the same, until I received a pm message warning me. Their prices really go up with My Elegant Paws. This forum is a great way of warning other people. You have already helped keep at least 2 people from buying from this "reputable" breeder. Good job!!! I'm glad you found your baby and helped out a puppy who was in a bad situation. Congrats! |
