Post your HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BREEDERS here! Is it just ME, or are there a lot of really sad stories going on right now telling folks not to buy a pup from this breeder or that breeder? :( Well, I thought it might be handy to start an informational thread about the GOOD ones!! :D I see people on here too, asking for recommendations. This would make it EASY! Here's a guideline: 1. Breeder Name/Kennel Name/ Home State 2. Breeder Address or website 3. Date you got your puppy 4. Why you chose the breeder 5. Describe your positive experiences. Thanks! Can't WAIT to see how this turns out! |
Great Breeder 1. Ponderosa 2. Home State- North Carolina 3. www.ponderosas.com 4. Got Chance this year in Feb 5. Tammy is a very loving a wonderful person to work with. I was on her waiting list for quite some time but I was willing to wait for one of her pups. We kept in contact by email regarding pups and I went in person to pick Chance up. Very informative and sent me home with just about everything that I could need for a pup. If I ever get another I'll be going here. If I had questions she was always willing to help. |
1. Stacy at Sylvan Yorkies in Eastern PA 2. http://sylvanyorkies.com 3. November 2005 4. Stacy has beautiful animals that were responsibly bred and raised in her home. They are very well socialized, healthy and have great temperaments. Stacy is always ready to help or answer questions no matter how mundane they might be. She's honest, ethical and always a pleasure to deal with. 5. After meeting on YT and spending several months exchanging emails and pictures, I finally got to meet Stacy and her gang when I went to her home to pick up The Widget. MeganS lives near me, so she went along with me. We both were in Yorkie heaven when we got to Stacy's home. All of her pups are raised 'under foot' and it was wonderful to see so many (I think total count including pups was around 15 when we were there) happy, healthy cuddly little Yorks in one place. BTW Glad, All the posts in YT's Groomer/Breeder Review section aren't bad! :p |
Nope, wasn't talking about the breeder review section. Quote:
Rarely do I visit a specific section here. I hit "new posts" and away I go! :p |
bump Anyone else? ;) |
1. Robbie Spaugh/Butterfly Yorkies/NC 2. http://www.butterflyyorkies.com 3. 4/2006 4. Because of her love for the breed. She was so passionate and willing to help and tell me everything that I needed to know. I was also very concerned with where her baby was going. 5. The day that I got to Robbies to pick Ty up I ended up staying the whole day. She taught me grooming tip and a bunch of other things. She had a care package ready for Ty and even a little something for me!! My whole family was invited into her home and we even had dinner there! She is a amazing woman and I will be doing business with her FOREVER in the future! |
Not Many Post......hummmm |
It is interesting, isn't it? Quote:
Come on, folks!! If you are proud of your breeder and their product, (your pup! :p ) BOAST a little! :p |
Just a little lady who loves yorkies! 1. Ruby Eddy, Florence Alabama 2. Florence, AL - No website that I know of 3. November 2004 4. I talked to a gal at Petco who got a yorkie from her and recommended her. And she was local! Plus her pups were not an arm and a leg - she charged $500 for males and $600 for females - AKC and CKC registered and very affordable I thought. I had been in contact with another breeder in this area who would not let me see the parents and would only deal with me thru a local flea market...I did not want to deal with her at all. 5. I contacted Mrs. Eddy about a pup. She said she did not take deposits on pups until they were born so I contacted her back on the due date. I had wanted a female but the litter only contained 4 males! So she invited me to come by and see them when they were a week old. I fell in love with every single one of them and placed my deposit for pick male. She let us see the parents and siblings from previous litters. When they were almost 8 weeks old, we were home for Thanksgiving (had been in Florida working hurricane claims) and she said that since I had raised puppies before, we could come on over and pick him out. So we did. She was very helpful in helping me pick just the right one...and the rest is history...WE LOVE OUR LITTLE OSCAR!!! She gave us a lot of good advice about tiny babies and was there when I had questions by phone. I would buy another from her in a heartbeat! |
1. Nancy Whitehead, Duluth, MN 2. if you need address, pm me 3. 7/1/2005 (born 3/17/2005) 4. my husband picked one of her puppies for me. He said she was very knowledgable, her place was clean, and all the dogs were well cared for (both parents on side). 5. breeder kept Trixie until she was 14 wks old. Trixie got ALL of her shots except for rabies. Trixie was potty trained (outside) pretty much from the day I got her. She's very social, happy and very very very pretty. Breeder answers questions promptly. Very healthy puppies. Reasonable priced (we paid $650) If I'd get another puppy, and I'd still be in the area, I would definately go back to her!!! And I recommend her to anybody. |
Oh cool! Quote:
Anyone else proud of their breeder and pup and want to post? |

This is a good idea, I had thought about it too. The problem is, the ones who are getting taken are not members. They should have come to us first, but they don't know about us. But man I cannot believe all of the underhanded people out there, and as it was pointed out before, it is only going to get worse as the popularity grows. I wish we could get to these people first. |
I Agree Jeanne...I WISH I had yorkie sites back when I was looking for my first yorkie - but then again - I wouldn't have Chanel....so in a way I'm glad I was ignorant back then. IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW.... :) and we DO try to educate on this site. We may not reach everyone - but sometimes people are on her BEFORE they buy...so don't feel discouraged. |
1. Prarieview Kennel / Connie Schaub 2. Lennox, SD 3. http://www.prairieviewkennel.com/care.html 4. We picked Ollie up on February 18, 2005 5. I choose the breeder partly because of location, and because she had a 5 week old litter, and price. By some peoples standards, Prarie View would be considered a puppy mill. she has several breeds and she keeps them in buildings outside of the house. I found the dogs to be clean and well cared for, eventhough the mothers with babies were kept in cages. I also found Connie to be a very caring person. She knew her puppies well and monitored their progress carefully. At the time that I got Ollie, she only had two other females in cages one had a litter and one was ready to have one. She knew the breed standard and she answered all of my questions about her breeding program, and breeding in general. I believe there are puppy mills :) and then there are puppy mills  . I would not hesitate to buy from her again. |
1. Crown Ridge / Loryn Bogren 2. Bonsall, CA 3. http://www.crownridgegems.com/ 4. Chachi was shipped to us on April 21, 2006 5. I chose Crownridge because she has the parti colored yorkies and because she was reccommended by several people. I did not like the location and having to ship Chachi, and her prices are high, but sometimes you do what you gotta do. I want to incorporate the parti colors into my breeding program and they are hard to find. I found Loryn to be extremely knowledgeable on breeding and genetics. I was not able to visit her personally. I spoke with her one the phone, and she told me that all of her dogs are kept in her house, and she cares for them personally with some part time help with the grooming. Since she was instrumental in getting the parti colored yorkies accepted by the AKC, and showed dogs for years, I trusted that she cared for her dogs. I have my name on a list to get another puppie from her. |
I cannot edit the post on when we got Ollie, but the year is 2006, not 2005 |

Lets just keep bumping it to the top. Maybe we could get Administration to make it ALWAYS ON TOP like some of the other threads. |
Jeanne, you have given me courage to speak! I started this thread, yet I have not posted my breeder! LOL, I am surprised no one has commented on that. Y'all are a LOT more polite than me! :p I got Wosie from a back yard breeder. Having had prior experience with puppy mills, you would have thought I would have avoided that situation. Let me tell you why I did not. In my search for a yorkie puppy when Jasper was ill, we visited a half dozen breeders in our area. All of them were home-raised, and there were varying degrees of standard (or lack thereof) in the parents, siblings, and other furry relatives in the home. Simply because a dog is "home raised" does not give it quality. It gives it socialization, but the standards are in the blood lines. Most of these dogs did not look good. Wosie's breeder had pugs, yorkies, and a few chihuahuas. There were about a dozen dogs in her spotlessly clean home. But outside in the yard was a pretty little building where she kept the majority of her dogs. Each dog had his own enclosed open kennel run where they could go in and out of the building at will. All the runs were kept free of waste with an ingenious cleaning system that her husband had designed and built for her. All of the dogs would come to the fences, tails wagging and friendly, not aggressive or shy. It was obvious to me that although they did not live inside the house, they were loved and well cared for. Linda described ber breeding program, and it was obvious that she was interested in the breeding standards, but did not have enough room in her home (doublewide) to keep all her dogs inside. Did I have doubts about her? It was hard not to, with all the dogs that were there. "Puppy mill" rang in my mind. But after talking with her for a while and understanding where she was coming from, I decided that the quality of the dogs she kept and the care she took to set them up right made her program higher quality that some of the "home raised" pups we had seen recently. So we got Wosie. Admittedly, I was still having doubts after we got her, and as some of you remember, I questioned early on Wosie's lack of standard qualities. Come to find out, she is merely a late bloomer. You have seen my pup's pictures, and you know she gets prettier every day. Am I proud of my pup? You bet. Am I proud of her breeder? I admire her committment, but I think she has too many dogs to be able to give them the love and attention yorkies need. Therefore I will not post her info here. |
Sherlyn yorkies Sheri from Sheryln Yorkies. http://www.sherlynyorkies.homestead.com/ I got my Sparks from her. Her dogs are beautiful and well mannered. I chose her because of her willingness to answer any question at length and she helped chose the dog I was looking for. She's been answering lengthy emails from me since last August! She feeds good quality kibble AND homecooking. She does only limited vaccines (only what is really needed and titers blood). she does not use chemicals that are not needed. She knows where her line goes back to and can tell you have any health problems. Her house is VERY clean. Dogs are bathed weekly. She is WONDERFUL to work with. I am thrilled with my dog and wouldn't have been able to pick him out if she hadn't of helped choose. I am thinking about getting another one that was there because we fell in love with him. suzie |
Awesome!! We are getting more people to post their breeders that they are proud of!! Come on folks! Post your wonderful breeders here! Boast away! People who are shopping are LOOKING at this thread! Wouldn't you want them to know about YOUR breeder??:D |
Ok, as you know i'm in Holland ... so if there are any Dutch people that stumble over this forum, i can HIGHLY recommend the family Ross in Schijndel. If anybody wants more information and phone numbers, i'll be happy to help them! There is no website. I am VERY impressed with Chelsey's breeder, she comes from the most wonderful people i have ever met ... she is very well socialized and she papers trains all her pups before they leave her. The day we brought her home, that lady cried, i felt so bad for her. I still have contact with her to keep her updated, she loves it  |
Excellent! Great! I like it that we are going International on this thread!! Anyone else? Tell about your great breeder!!:D Here's a guideline: 1. Breeder Name/Kennel Name/ Home State 2. Breeder Address or website 3. Date you got your puppy 4. Why you chose the breeder 5. Describe your positive experiences. |
Oops i forgot to add... we got Chelsey in Feb. 2005 ;) |
Anyone else want to recommend a breeder? Come on, I know you are lurking out there saying to yourself, "Should I?? Should I recommend my breeder"? I feel bad for the breeders that are out there right now reading this thread and wondering, "huh!, Why didn't so and so write about ME?" Boast, people! Tell us all about your wonderful breeder!:D |
Shelby's breeder would kill me if I posted her name here :D She is one of those long time YTCA members that rarely has litters so I can't recommend her. Breeds for show and standard only and Shelby was pet quality. If I were doing this again I would go to www.ytca.org and look under breeder contact and get on lists with any or all breeders in my area. Or I would beg a couple of our YT breeders to sell me a pup ;) |
I would be a "begger" too, lol!! Quote:
Come on, people! What are you waiting for?:p |
1. Dale Bing -- Candyland Kennel -- Guntersville, AL 2. 256-571-0291 3. We got Hobbs 12/1/05 -- we are getting another one from her in July 4. We contacted and requested pictures from dozens and dozens of breeders -- Dale had the best looking puppies of anyone we contacted -- the main thing, she had GREAT prices for the quality of puppies she was raising. We got Hobbs for $850, and he is only 3 lbs., from champion bloodline, and in GREAT health 5. Dale is just very good at raising yorkies that meet the standard and not charging outrageous prices. The puppies went to the vet several times before they went to their homes, they came with AKC papers, health guarantee, and she gave us a lot of insight on how to watch out and care for hypoglocemia. We loved her and her doggies so much that we are getting another one from her in July!!!!! WOOHOO! |

Yes! I second that! She is a wonderful breeder and exhibitor here in NC. |
1. Kimberley Ellisor/ Texas 2. Has no website that I am aware of 3. I got Woodie about February 15th, of this year 4. I found Kim through someone else in northern Texas. She told me that Kim had a litter coming up and told me how to find her. I liked the situation because she had a healthy male puppy, and lived only blocks from where I was moving to. 5. When Kim and I first started communicating, we both had questions for each other about yorkies. I was still in San Diego at the time and I had my daughter here in Texas, go over to Kim's house to meet her and the puppies. After that, Kim and I made arrangements of a deposit etc, over the phone. Kim sent me weekly pictures of the puppy as he continued to grow.I asked her to change his name from Baxter to Woodie, which she did. She kept Woodie for me an extra month, til we moved here in late March. When I did pick up the puppy, Kim had a puppy package ready for me, with groomer and vet recommendations, food, and even a toy or two. Since I have had Woodie here, Kim has brought his litter mate, London, over to play a few times. Kim has brought her trimmers and scissors over and gave him a needed trim. Woodie loves chewing on the blanket Kim made for him, that has his name on it too. So, all in all, Kim has done a great job by me and I'd recommend her to anyone! |
I think everyone knows where our Toto came from ... but, on the outside chance you haven't ... here goes! :) Her breeder is Ava Tyree, Tyava Yorkies in Marietta, GA. Her website has the pertinent information ... it's maintained by her hubby when he has time. Her focus is totally on her Yorkies and she rarely has any that she will sell ... she raises show Yorkies. We became interested in the breed in 2002 but it wasn't until October 2003 that we got our little darlin' and brought her home. It was a very long search and it was like kissing frogs to find your prince .... well worth the wait! Ava makes her Yorkie bloodline her life work and I think that she has bred some of the most beautiful, healthy Yorkies that we have ever seen ... and a long line of champions. Toto's Dad, Wyatt, was #1 Yorkie in the country in 2004 & 2005 and recently "passed the mantle" to Tyava's Sure Shot [Chandler], her most recent champion. We just wanted a small pet and were so blessed to have found Ava and been allowed to love our Toto. We are totally committed to Toto and our lives revolve around her ... is she spoiled??? Of course, but she is without a doubt the sweetest, most precious little one we have ever seen!! Ava has always, always been there for us and truly cares about each baby she has parted with. We know we can call her anytime at all and she is always glad to answer any questions, offer advice and always thankful to catch up on the life of her little one! She truly cares about every one of her babies and we feel it is our duty to keep our word and fulfill every promise we made to her because she certainly has lived up to her good reputation!! ;) |
