I didn't do anything wrong according to police. Anyone has right to cancel checks. She has cash from me too! Check puppy lemon laws, she is the one in the wrong. She can take me to court if she was the judge to know about her criminal activities. Look at above post from madpuppymills.org. its all there on info oh her illegal business.

I'm not the thief here. Read the whole post of all threads from me and others before calling me a thief. Also check madpuppymills.org thread. The authorities
have all her info. I've spoken to police and I've done nothing wrong here. She has. So before you accuse me of being a thief, get your story straight. The police and my bank said I've done nothing illegal. The criminal activity here is unlicensed puppy mill breeders and brokers selling sick puppies to thousands of people for lots of money! USDA are on to them already. So please check your facts!

You took something you did not pay for, therefore you are a thief. You have the right to cancel your check but only if the item is RETURNED to it's rightful owner, or for a contract you wish to cancel. Check your facts!!

If you go to Tom thumb or target and write a check for groceries or a tv and then cancel the check, they will arrest you for theft of goods. It's the same thing- you stole her dog by cancelling the check and in my eyes, you are just as bad as she is. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Please keep us posted on how this all ends.

Laurie is one of the greatest people around she is not running a Puppy Mill and has excellent puppies I have bought 2 from her and have had them for over 2 years and they have had no issues. You should be ashamed of your self! Why do this to such a great person? She cared enough to help you out and this is the way you repay her? Everyone on your Yorkie Talk please don't listen to this terrible untrue statements by this person that just wants to take advantage of a good hearted person to get a puppy for free! She definitely has issues. How can you think that you deserve this puppy for free? I have the utmost respect for Laurie and she truly cares about these puppies. She just lost her dog that she had for 10 years and is going through alot. How could you do this to her! You will be the one that has to answer to God for doing such a horrilble thing to such a great person.

chinalee is not the only person to complain about this Laurie person. What amazes me is that you would join simply to defend this person...I would suggest you check all of the other complaints on this person before you bash one of our members!!!:confused:

For your information I didn't just join I joined about 3 months ago if I ever needed this site for advice because another breeder recommended to me.
I don't need to read anything I know how good Laurie has been to me and how well my Yorkies are. I don't usually don't get involved in disputes such as this but this is slander.And I really don't care of it's a member or not she is a thief taking advantage of someone that tried to help her out. If you can't afford a yorkie don't do mean and cruel things to someone just to get what you want. Simple as that.

I dont think its right to take a pup then stop paying on it but this is the reason
most breeders dont take checks

I agree 100% she should not take anymore checks from anyone. Cash or forget it. Hopefully after this incident she doesn't take anymore checks. It's a shame that people have to be so dishonest. Have a great day.

Anna its wonderful that Laurie has been good to you and your pups are healthy. Also I dont agree that the cheque was stopped because really that is theft...that being said there are others that have not had the same good fortune that you have had...I dont know what happened between the two parties involved, all I know is what I have read here. It seems to my eyes that there have been some issues with others that have bought pups from her...it isnt slander if what others are saying is true.

I think what I'm understanding is the purchase was to include the vet papers and AKC registration and they didn't come.
So if I'm correct the transaction was not completed (stop cheque) because the entire contract was unfulfilled.
I don't believe this is theft. If I bought a fridge and was to pay in full upon delivery but only half my fridge was delivered I'd be withholding payment too.

Yes...but you dont get to KEEP the fridge, free, just because you didnt get all the paperwork....you send the fridge BACK!!!! You either get your money back and the purchase is returned, or you get the paperwork and keep the purchase....but you can NOT have a free fridge because paperwork was missing! You PAY for the product, or you return it for a refund!!!

I think we all have a different approach in this situation.
This person doesn't have any papers yet as outlined in her contract. With it not being a fridge, it being a live creature that you have invested money in caring for it while you wait for the pending paperwork, there should be certain considerations here.

I have to say that I think you are being a bit harsh to ChinaLee here. Please remember who the victims are - ChinaLee and her puppy. You are comparing an inanimate object to a living, breathing soul. A defective piece of equipment, spoiled food, etc. that you return will most likely get thrown in the trash, or repaired and sold "as is". This woman, Loretta or Lori, or whatever her name is, has already proven multiple times that the dogs she sells are merely money in her pocket. The dogs health mean nothing to her. Some of her friends are coming on here saying that she is wonderful and has even given a dog away - maybe she did (but I'd make a healthy wager it was defective in some way), but it is also on record that she has refused to cooperate or live up to her word when customers have come to her with newly purchased sick puppies.

Could you honestly say that you would return a dog, that you love, to her?? She'd most likely send it back to the Oklahoma puppy mill that it came from, or she'd "play doctor" and give it some bogus medication and then pawn it off on the next unsuspecting person who comes along.

This woman, Loretta, is bad news, and she needs to be stopped. While I agree that normally it would be considered wrong to stop payment on an item without returning it, sometimes a person has to struggle with morality, not legality. If it were me in this situation right now, I'd say to Loretta, come and get me. I promise you that she won't. She has much more to lose by calling attention to herself like that.

if the fridge is supposed to come with written docs and they didn't arrive darned right I'd hold payment until all parts of the contract are fulfilled by the seller

She has done right by the pup and invested money in taking care of the illness it was sent to her with. So she has more than paid for the puppy.

This bad breeder broker person is lucky no one has slapped her upside of the head with a brick yet.
Let's hope something legit can be done to shut her down and have her penalized to the fullest extent of the law and then some

Doing something "legit" means following proper legal processes and in this case...that avenue was not pursued.

For the record there are specific time periods to file under CA's puppy lemon law and the majority of the remedies do not include receiving a refund AND keeping the puppy.

A third option - Keep the puppy and receive reimbursement for reasonable
veterinarian fees up to 150 percent of the original purchase price of
the dog plus sales tax on the original purchase price of the dog.
