Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Please beware of Smithscountrybiewersandyorkies I purchased a male puppy from them and he was shipped to me on 04/20/11. He came with a Health Certificate signed by a vet in GA dated 04/19/11 stating he was 1# 10oz 10wks old and fine to travel. When I picked up my new puppy for the first time... I could have cried because he was literally bones with hair. ![]() My Vet was amazed at the state he was in and couldn't believe he was even able to be shipped. He described him as being so tiny with very little muscle mass and basically just bones. His blood sugar was only at 34 and normal levels should be between 300-400. They had to keep him for the rest of the day to see if he would even pull through... I did get to take him home that evening and to feed every hour, 3ml of AD by mouth because he wouldn't eat. He also had two infections, Coccidiosis & Campylobacter which he needed Albon & Amoxicillin to treat. I had to bring him in very next morning because he was still doing terrible. He also had yeast infection in ears. The third day, he was brought in because he had an episode where he cried/screaming and wouldn't stop and was unresponsive even calling his name. He went limp and had shallow breathing and bit of foam from mouth but not much. The vet could only think of maybe a seizure. Puppy actually was normal by the time I got him to the vet. He also had a bit of a cough/hack from time to time like he had to cough something up. The cough got worse and he started to throw up clearish mucus. It was tested and he was put on more meds for regurgitation. He still has the cough, not as bad, but I have a feeling there is more wrong inside that we cannot see at this point and an x ray will be done soon. (14wks 2 days old...It has been 26 days that he has been in my care and both of his infections are gone. We are working on his yeast infection in the ears. He is still shedding his coat and his hair is thinning and thinning. he hardly has fur on his underside... belly & chest. He still has the hack/cough congestion now and then but hasn't threw up since on med for regurgitation. His weight went down as low as 1# 6.9oz at his worst, but today he is 1# 15.4oz and he has MUSCLE MASS. He is still a bit boney, but no way near when I got him. I have talked to the breeder about his condition and all she could say is that if she would have known he was sick, she wouldn't have sent him. ***Makes ME ![]() Photos of my sick boy are available to see in my albumn as well as the records sent by her. Please DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID... ***At least this little pumpkin has a chance in life in the loving hands of his new home**** I LOVE HIM DEARLY ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() This is so sad, I'm glad he's alright after all that. Sadly in the vet office we see dogs flown in from other states often in horrible condition. A few have even died. Even when they are healthy flying causes such stress, I try and discourage people from getting dogs flown or shipped them or at the very least having someone accompany the puppy on the plane. Hope your pup continues to improve.

| ![]() Thanks for the breeder review. I went to the website and was appalled to see "Christian breeder" on the site. Unfortunately, we have seen another unscrupulous breeder or two on this site with the same religious disclaimer. So glad Wiley is w you now where he will be cared for. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() I am so sorry you ran into such a bad breeder. I am glad he is with you and pray he will make a full recovery under your loving care. I looked at his pictures and he is a cutie. It looks like he will have a silky coat. Please keep us posted.

| ![]() I think that is a great idea! Unfortunately, I doubt the breeder is going to own up to the condition she let that pup be shipped in. |

That's not to say there aren't some really fantastic breeders here, there are! But it all comes down to knowing exactly who you are buying from. Hope your little one continues to do well in your care.

| ![]() Tammy glad you posted this to let others know what a cold hearted beast this lady is. I don't know how anyone could ship poor Wiley in the shape he was in. Good thing God was with him and he got the greatest mom on earth. At least he has a big chance in life now and hopefully this little pumpkin gets better each day. Keep me posted. Susan |
