WiggleWagglePup | 05-16-2011 06:41 PM | BAD BREEDER... READ Wiley's Story Please beware of Smithscountrybiewersandyorkies I purchased a male puppy from them and he was shipped to me on 04/20/11. He came with a Health Certificate signed by a vet in GA dated 04/19/11 stating he was 1# 10oz 10wks old and fine to travel. When I picked up my new puppy for the first time... I could have cried because he was literally bones with hair. :( All I could feel was every bone that made his tiny frame and covered with shedding coat of hair. I made the mistake of not bringing him to a vet right away in the city I picked him up at. I noticed that his shot records were not sent with him and he had Puppy Chow in his shipping crate instead of Eukanuba which was supposed to be his regular food. I gave him Nutrical right away and he drank water, but would not eat. I made the 3.5hour ride home and stayed up with him all night making sure he got water and nutrical because he wouldn't eat. He only weighed 1# 8.? oz when I weighed him at home. I took him straight to the vet very next morning which was only 17-19hours after I recieved him. My Vet was amazed at the state he was in and couldn't believe he was even able to be shipped. He described him as being so tiny with very little muscle mass and basically just bones. His blood sugar was only at 34 and normal levels should be between 300-400. They had to keep him for the rest of the day to see if he would even pull through... I did get to take him home that evening and to feed every hour, 3ml of AD by mouth because he wouldn't eat. He also had two infections, Coccidiosis & Campylobacter which he needed Albon & Amoxicillin to treat. I had to bring him in very next morning because he was still doing terrible. He also had yeast infection in ears. The third day, he was brought in because he had an episode where he cried/screaming and wouldn't stop and was unresponsive even calling his name. He went limp and had shallow breathing and bit of foam from mouth but not much. The vet could only think of maybe a seizure. Puppy actually was normal by the time I got him to the vet. He also had a bit of a cough/hack from time to time like he had to cough something up. The cough got worse and he started to throw up clearish mucus. It was tested and he was put on more meds for regurgitation. He still has the cough, not as bad, but I have a feeling there is more wrong inside that we cannot see at this point and an x ray will be done soon. (14wks 2 days old...It has been 26 days that he has been in my care and both of his infections are gone. We are working on his yeast infection in the ears. He is still shedding his coat and his hair is thinning and thinning. he hardly has fur on his underside... belly & chest. He still has the hack/cough congestion now and then but hasn't threw up since on med for regurgitation. His weight went down as low as 1# 6.9oz at his worst, but today he is 1# 15.4oz and he has MUSCLE MASS. He is still a bit boney, but no way near when I got him. I have talked to the breeder about his condition and all she could say is that if she would have known he was sick, she wouldn't have sent him. ***Makes ME  MAD that she couldn't tell by his boney skeleton body*** ANYONE WOULD HAVE KNOWN... just by picking him up. She said that she would pay for his vet bills if she was rich, but she isn't. She said she was sorry she forgot his REGULAR food and had to purchase something to send with him on the flight and PUPPY CHOW was the closest thing to EUKANUBA. She said she was sorry for not sending his records and would send them... Took me asking 3X before they finally arrived today and there were no dates as to when she gave the vaccinations. She also offered me his brother and or if I knew of anyone close to me that would want him and she would ship him free with the one I was getting. Now I wonder if I was supposed to get his brother and got the sick one instead. Maybe she brought a healthy male puppy in for the health check and sent me a sick one and used the health certificate in place of ... to ship sick pup. Just my opinion. It has been excuse after excuse with her and all I can do is pray that this little boy pulls through... Photos of my sick boy are available to see in my albumn as well as the records sent by her. Please DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID... ***At least this little pumpkin has a chance in life in the loving hands of his new home**** I LOVE HIM DEARLY :love: |
