2 Pups didn't make it Hi everyone.....sadly 2 of Missy's pups were still born. One actually had his intestines outside of his body, and the other had a hole in his tummy with his intestines showing but not really out :-( I was sooo scared that the rest of the puppies were all going to be still born, as she was only 56 days today (unless they got tied earlier and I didn't know about it.....they can be sneaky sometimes). Anyways, we do have 3 healthy puppies doing very well. This is her first litter (and mine too). Needless to say I was so nervous about this whole thing anyways and then to have two pups not make it was a terrible experience. Has anyone else out there ever experienced a pup being born with his intenstines out, or a hole in the tummy? I called my vet when the first one was born and she said it is a rare birth defect that is not genetic or has anything to do with the quality of the dam or sire. She said she was VERY surprised that there were 2 pups like that, it is very rare to see one let alone two. Well, I am thankful that we have 3 healthy pups, and will try and focus on enjoying them!!!!

So sorry I'm so sorry that two of your puppies dodin't make it. I've never heard of intestines being outside the body in dogs, but I have in human babies. My guess is that it is rare and I'm sorry you experienced it. Good luck with your litter.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Congratulations on the birth of your litter...it is always so sad with the few that don't make it. On the brighter side, she had a good sized litter, so you still have 3 little puppies to enjoy and watch grow. My Lexie just had 4 last Sunday and I've enjoyed every minute with thiem thus far with many weeks to come. Can't wait to see pictures of your little ones!

Bella is pregnant too! Sorry to be annoying but I have a 47 day pregnant Yorkie Bella with 6 or 7 puppies. She may need a c-section and I am unhappy about that!

Bella Bella may need a C-section because she had 5 pups about two years ago and 6 or 7 puppies is a lot of babies for a mom to deliver naturally! Her uterus is worn out from carrying so many puppies and this will be her last litter. If she gets a C-section, she'll get spayed as well. If she doesn't need a C-section, she'll get spayed before her next heat cycle. My old Yorkie Jojo who died, managed to have five litters before she got spayed. She was on the larger side almost 7lbs. Bella is petite, weighing 5 1/6lbs before she got pregnant.
