| She is supposed to be due by my calculations on the 23rd that would be day 62, but my mother-in-law told me that she seen them tied about 3 or 4 days before I had told her they were tied. So I may be off a couple of days. So if this is the beginning stages then how long do you think it'll be?

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | I don't know...we didn't expect her to have her pups until the 20th of October, so she caught us by surprise. I woke Sunday morning to her whining, then when we got up, she didn't eat her breakfast, then found her spot (NOT her whelping box) and started nesting, then I saw shivering and I knew this was it. Next thing I knew (after taking her temp @99.5), the whelping began! I never did see her do any of the panting thing. I'm assuming she must have been in light labor all night while we slept.

| I kinda wonder if I'm not jumping the gun. She did have the mucus, but now she's up wondering around , but staying right by me. She's still kinda perky (as much as she can be I guess). If she is in the beginning stages, I wonder how long it'll take to progress to the next stage? Probably like humans you never can tell I guess

| It definitely sounds as if she's progressing. Now would be the time to get all of your whelping supplies ready. Hopefully you already have things sterilized and ready to go. Good luck!

| Yes we do have everything ready, she seems to panting a little more now. Her little eyes are watering a little bit. My daughter put her in her box and she's actually staying but no digging yet. I'm thinking we may have them tonite

| The mucus would be part of the mucus plug that sealed the cervix while she's been pregnant. It indicates a relaxation and possible dialation of that area. Pups could come in the next 24 hours or not for days. A better indication that whelping will be within 24 to 48 hours is the drop in her temperature. Keep a close eye on her, time is drawing near.
